Location Comfort Friendly & attentive staff
A very we'll designed lay out. With space for all necessities!!
Position is very good but if permissible some tree pruning would improve view from ground floor level. View from Room 22 should have been 'stunning' but was greatly obscured by trees. Staff vey friendly and do their best but seem to be stretched to their limit and appear stressed. Bird feeding viewed from dining room was a nice feature.
Decor rather tired. Some seats with threadbare patches. Piped music. During afternoon strident music was turned down at my request but I was told that they couldn't turn it off - although I was the only guest in the lounge at that time. Cooking smells in ground floor corridors. Noisy kitchen/staff centrally located within hotel. Both doors to kitchen kept open - hence intrusive smell and noise. Noise particularly intrusive early morning for ground floor rooms. Some newspapers would have been appreciated. Food was stodgy. Prawn sandwich was tasteless and watery from de-frosting. Breakfast thrown together without finesse. Requested soft eggs were hard boiled. Poached eggs dumped on top of heap. Bacon cooked layered straight out of the package. Toast overdone. Although advertised as serving a selection of real ales, only one guest ale available. Curtains were falling off the rails. Bathroom for no 22 shabby. No shelves in bathroom for toiletries. Had to put toilet bags on top of WC cistern. Extractor fan and mirror light not working. Dirty shower curtain - was replaced after 2 days. Repair to veneer on bedside table repaired with tape. Strong smell of drains in the rear car park.
The comfort of our room and in the hotel in general ,the views from the dining room, the birds feeding by the windows as you ate your meals wonderful
The fact we could not stay longer
Location, scenery and the food, staff very good
Beautiful setting, comfortable rooms and public areas and friendly staff. Lovely to watch the birds feed while we fed.
The strong smell of fried food when we arrived.
We loved our stay at the hotel. The surroundings were beautiful, the hotel beautiful and the staff lovely.
The view from the dining room and watching the many birds coming to the feeders.
I thought there could have been a bigger selection at breakfast time.
Excellent location easy access to a variety of walks and climbs at all altitudes. Very good power shower!
Stunning views and lovely location right on Derwentwater and close to Keswick. Beautiful brand new room in recently completed annex.
Staff not local. Main course served at dinner was not the one ordered. Wife's choice main course "prime slow cooked beef" was so tough she could not eat it.
The service, nothing to much trouble The staff, very attentive and polite The food The location Just about every thing suited us,and the food prices and portions were good value for money. We will return next year for sure
Nothing to report
The whole package.
Shower in room 25 needs modernising
Have stayed at this hotel many times , it says a lot for a hotel when the members of staff stay on for many years . The Mary Mount has now been improved to a even higher standard with extra dining space , whilst maintaining a friendly atmosphere
Friendly and helpful staff, location of hotel, General overall standard of accommodation and restraurant service.
We have nothing but praise for the way the hotel was run, the food was excellent, staff very friendly, our room very comfortable, location stunning.
The only thing we did not like was outside the hotel the reed bed effluent plant was giving off some unpleasant odours on several days.
We stayed at the Mary Mount during our 8 day challenge to cycle 502 miles and climb the 3 peaks. We were to start our climb of Scafell Pike at 6:15am, way to early for breakfast. This wasn't a problem as the hotel provided each of us with a packed lunch which we could take with us. It seems that nothing was too much of a problem. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the views absolutely amazing. Would definitely like to go back for a more relaxing stay :-).
Everything! The location, tranquillity, relaxed atmosphere, rooms, cleanliness, view, restaurant, walks, bar, and wish we stayed longer.
We couldn't say anything negative about Mary Mount Hotel.
the veiw and location, the food free parking
the building needed maintenace ie the gutters the bathrooms needed upgrading ,curtains were of the hooks
The Mary Mount Hotel is in a beautiful position close to the lake. There is a regular ferry around the lake to Keswick and the hotel offers reductions for this. The hotel is clean and the food is very good, we shall certainly return.
With such beautiful views it's a pity the bedroom windows were dirty.
Tranquil surroundings, great food and very comfortable rooms. wonderful place to getaway.
Excellent location with fantastic views. Lovely sun terrace for pre dinner drinks
Not much choice for breakfast or if there is they are not listed on the menu
Location, launch to Keswick, restaurant views, informal, good mixture of guests ie, young to old.
Electric plug positions in bedroom and bathroom lighting
Birds by the windows, views ,roominess
No rubber shower mat
lovely friendly hotel. fantastic views in a beautiful setting. helpful and friendly staff, great place to relax and enjoy the evenings in a cosy hotel. loved the bird feeders next to the dining room windows, inspirational!
that we had to go home !!!!
The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good; the tomatoes were especially wonderful. It was lovely to watch the birds on the bird feeders just outside the window whilst eating breakfast. The location was outstanding, with great views and a ferry landing point at the end of the garden.
Dinner was adequate, pub style food. We ate at the hotel on Friday night but decided to eat out on Saturday. Given the quality of food available in other places locally, we felt the hotel had missed an opportunity with the dinner menu.
