Staff were very friendly and helpful despite it being bank holiday weekend and extremely busy with both residents and non residents. They went out of their way to help us celebrate our silver wedding and were professional and welcoming to all they served Beautiful location with high class food and drink The rooms were well equipped and provided top quality toiletries and tea tray items Wifi/phone reception wasn't the best but this is the new forest, if that's important to you perhaps stay in the city Can't wait to go back because we surely will one day
beautiful location , friendly staff , food very good, would come back
room could of been slighty cleaner
Excellent location along the river, very peaceful, food good and staff welcoming
Nice decor in room, good quality tea, coffee & biscuits, nice touch with the elderflower vodka! Breakfast very impressive choice of cooked breakfast & buffet.
Shower quite tricky to get hot water, electric showers might be better? Room a bit stuffy, wouldn't have slept if it had been hot weather!
Superb location,very helpful staff,comfy bedroom.
over cooked burger on bbq
Attentive staff, superb location, great food & just an excellent hotel.
The restaurant...the food was delicious & the complimentary liqueur after the mail was tasty. The outdoor barbequeue food was very tasty
The total ambience and the helpfulness of staff
The views over the river are pretty special - got to be one of the best spots on the south coast and we were received by very friendly helpful staff. We found the service and staff of the restaraunt excellent and the food was lovely. Will definitely come back.
Its quirkiness, room decor, friendliness and location
Inability to use powerful hand-held shower over bath without wetting floor and other areas of bathroom - curtain hung from ceiling might be useful!
Amazing spot with beautiful surrounding countryside and various historical interests to visit locally.
Awful, awful décor in our room which was painted, everywhere in a bright lime green ! this along with extremely dark furnishing did not make for a relaxing space, especially as the room was quite small.
Location and staff
Hearing the next rooms every movement and conversation
The location and our room was perfect, fantastic views, great food and the staff were effient and good natured. We enjoyed our stay both at the hotel and visiting the surround countryside in the New Forest, meeting friends and family.
Only downside is the beer was in poor condition - a bit of a let down as my partner is a keen beer enthusiast.
Welcomed us baby boomers with our small dog (Big market being missed by many hotels) Kwerky place, but loved our stay.
Not a thing
Friendly and helpful staff, well equiped rooms, nice setting
There is a resturant and pub serving different kinds of food and in summer they do a bbq. It was a nice day so we opted for the bbq. We ordered a burger, which was 9 pounds, and vegetable kababs, 8 ponds. The burger was just a burger in a bun with absolutely no sides and the kebabs were 2 very small sticks with tomato, mushroom, onion and a tiny bit of pepper, again, no sides at all. How they can charge that for what they produce is unreal! The room had some nice touches like fresh coffee, body lotions, teapigs etc however, the bathroom could have been cleaner
small room, noisy vent outside window, no view, limited breakfast choice, charge for newspaper
The food is top quality, the ambiance good. Great to find real coffee and good quality tea in the room. Helpful staff.
The room was comfortable but needed a maintenance man to fix the loose door knobs, failing toilet seat, badly adjusted door limiter.
room was a little hot
Location and grounds are perfect. Room away from any noise and well appointed. Staff friendly and available.
Location was great, beautiful outlook.
Room in the attic!! I walk with a stick and the stairs to the room were a nightmare, steep, narrow and uneven. The room was cramped, floor uneven and very dated. There was only a shower attachment on the bath with water just trickling. Because of my knee I had a nightmare getting in and out of the bath. When you flushed the toilet you soaked the floor if seat left up! Just a small window so we were very hot. We travelled with another couple and their room was better, more modern and had a proper shower. Food expensive and limited. The BBQ was very unhygienic as coleslaw and salad left on the bar, uncovered for several hours in the heat with flies and wasps! We watched the bar man use his hands to dish up the salad and potatoes! BBQ was the only option until 7pm when you could order bar food, menu limited. Needless to say we ate out on the second night.
dining hall and food
Our room was clean and comfortable but a little cramped and not worth £150 per night
Beautiful setting, lovely if old weather and interesting to walk around. Good choice of places to drink/ eat. Rooms nice, v large bed and excellent tea/ coffee facilities provided.
Room was VERY hot - some 27 degrees when outside was around 22. No air conditioning, understandable in such a building but made for an uncomfortable night. Also no lift so ask for a ground floor room well in advance if you need one (we had to carry our baby upstairs in her carrycot at bedtime).
Overall very welcoming
Very busy lunch/dinner
Not cheap but what a place and location Go and have a ball
Bit hot in the room with no aircon
