Location is obviously excellent. Staff were relaxed, calm and thoroughly efficient. There was nothing pretentious just first class atmosphere.
room was abit dark and dingy
An excellent comfortable hotel with top class facilities. I have never slept in such a comfortable hotel bed and the facilities in the room were excellent. The food and service was first class and the location is brilliant.
meals in bar were very good value.
Toilet seat was a very bad fit.
Staff were very friendly and restaurant food was very good. The Hotel had a nice country, personal ambiance.
The room was a little small for a couple with little space for suitcases. Food prices were a little above average. The drive back to the township at night was a little bit dodgy with so many horses wandering the roads.
We were made to feel welcome by all the staff who were very friendly and efficient. The food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service.
The bathroom needed updating
Efficient and friendly staff, management on top things, a really good atmosphere.
No wi fi or O2 phone coverage (not too much of a problem)
Fabulous & peaceful setting. We were the only two enjoying a drink outside the bar as the sun set. Friendly staff and a most enjoyable dinner. Loved the quirky interior decoration too.
My bedroom blind let in the morning light and coffee at breakfast was weak, but small things compared to our overall enjoyment of our stay.
Great location but drive slowly to avoid Cows Pony's and Donkeys on the roads even in the dark. Great Breakfast menu choices
Restaurant and bar menu choices are to restrictive and over priced, drive a few miles to Lyndhurst or Lymington for Dinner for much better choices at competitive prices
Fabulous views good food and very nice hotel. Would recommend to friends.
The only slight fault that we found was that the wallpaper was peeling off the wall in our room.
We enjoyed our stay would have stayed a bit longer but hotel was already booked up. will return again for longer.
Unusual but tastefully themed rooms in a beautiful historic setting. Excellent breakfast with good choices.
The staff, the food and the views from the main building, and the peace and quiet.
I wasn't expecting the bedrooms to be in a block at the back of the building. The view from the bedroom was of the car park, a bit disappointing, although not as noisy as I'd feared. The bathroom could have done with a bit of refurbishment - the sink was stained, for example.
Location and good food
On arrival our booking could not be found and eventually we were offered a "character room"which was very small with minimal natural light and no view. Bathroom poor and wash basin cracked!! Rubbish bin had not been emptied from previous guests Would not stay again and expensive for quality of the accommodation
Peace and quiet, good food and comfortable accommodation. ... what more can anyone want?
Restaurant was excellent
Some modernisation required in rooms
Views...Location....Private Dining Room....Comfortable bed in nice suite.....Good hot drinks provision in room....Attentive staff...Nice food....Historical connection....Off beaten track...Peaceful and restorative break.
The location was lovely, breakfast every morning overlooking the river! We wanted a base for walking and this hotel ticked all the boxes for us.Would definitely come and stay again as my negative comments were not bad enough to put me off.
While the room/bathroom was clean there was quite a lot of dust and a few cobwebs about. The door to our room didn't shut without assistance and the cleaners had left the room undone once they had finished, although I did report this to reception it happened again the following day.
Location of where it was, relaxing by the river.
Main bar closing at 10pm .patio area next to restaurant the hedge is to high unable to see view. Seating area In front of hotel only had picnic tables ,could do with normal chairs for the less able.
the lovely walks central to other locations very peaceful. The staff also made our pet Labrador very welcome.
Great staff beautiful location
Restaurant prices were a bit high.
Location fantastic staff very friendly food average
We booked in November 2014 three double rooms it was important to us that it had a good restaurant as the nearest location with restaurants was some distance away Two weeks before we had a call saying that on the Friday they had a large party and the restaurant would be busy and noisy and suggesting we ate on the bar , we declined and did eat in the restaurant and enjoyed a reasonable meal On the Saturday the hotel was full with a wedding party who had " Booked the whole venue" consequently we were unable to book a table in the restaurant , this situation was not explained to us at any time before or during our stay we only found out when large numbers of wedding guest started arriving. We let the receptionist know of our displeasure and she was very pleasant and said she was sorry and should have been told , but we heard nothing from the. Hotel management by way of an explanation or apology
Setting Restaurant for breakfast Helpful and pleasant staff
