Looked after very well. Very friendly and helpful staff. Basic but positive experience.
Everything very good for what amounts to basic accommodation, but just a bit pricey for what it was.
Breakfast good point
The upside was that, unable to stand a second night at The May Garland, we were told of a beautiful inn in Mayfield, which more than met our expectations.
There was a lot of traffic noise. The room was stuffy and smelled rather damp and musty. It was accessed via a fire exit, next to the pub toilets. Described as a superior double, it had two single beds pushed together, with a double duvet over the top. A function room is due to open in the attached building too - as if anything else was needed to ensure a poor night's sleep.
Live music on the Wednesday was outstanding, good pub food. Clean and pleasant staff polite and friendly.
Needed net curtains which we told were ordered.
That price included breakfast, which was excellent.
Mattress could be better. The area for breakfast was rather cramped and hemmed in. Can't see why main dining area not used.
A pleasant stay with friendly staff.
The restaurant needs to update it's wine list a's my first two choices were unavailable.
Good Inn well located for the area and Cuckoo trail. Pet friendly and the staff were very good. The meal was good value for pub food and the atmosphere was superb. Open mic night when we were there.
Rooms were quite small and we even had an upgrade to the bigger room because of the dogs. £10:00 per dog per night I think was too much. Right on a very busy road, but it did settle down around midnight and start up again around 6am.
The food there was excellent. My friends are staying nearby and have returned a few times since.
The weather was very hot at the time so needed to have the window open, the road outside is quite busy so there was some road noise.
Very informal, friendly and helpful. Serves a great full English breakfast. Very clean rooms in a charming pub. Late return to rooms not a problem. Plenty of parking.
No mirror in the bedroom! I had to stand in front of the open bathroom door to dry my hair in the bathroom mirror. There was a stool to sit on, but nothing to sit in front of.The hair dryer in the bathroom was not working either so it made getting ready a bit awkward; especially when someone was in the shower getting steamy! We ordered a full English breakfast and two poached eggs on toast. It took a good 40 minutes to arrive and the toast was burnt. Room 2 had an incredibly creaky bed which woke me up every time one of us moved.
- staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful - room was large and clean - breakfast lived up to expectations and deserves the high praises
Nothing. It was a disaster. the best I can say was that the breakfast waitress was very polite.
Pretty much everything. Staff incompetent. Food barely average. failed to have our two booked rooms available so had to share a single room between parents and 24 year old daughter who was on a child's camp bed. Cleanliness poor throughout. staff very unprofessional ( eg. snogging in hallway instead of serving guests). After having negotiated money off the dinner bill to reflect the room problem, the bill I was presented with next morning had coffees and sprits which we had not ordered. I could go on.......
Friendly staff . Clean room ,Breakfast was lovely . great for a stop over .
ashame about the building work going on .. I feel the rooms would benefit from a fan , As it was quite stuffy , Opening a window meant hearing all the passing traffic .
The pub atmosphere was really nice (maybe more for young people) and staff was super friendly. The room was perfect (also toiletteries). We had dinner and breakfast there, food was excellent.
Wi-Fi connection was fair in the room, but also in the pub (also phone reception itself was low - no mobile internet possible).
Two windows in the room made it light and bright. It was all on one level with the eating area and access was easy. The breakfast was tasty and well-cooked.
The staff were pleasant but did not go out of their way to make us feel welcome. There was a lot of noise from the general public in the beer garden which was just outside our room. A net curtain was definitely needed on this window for privacy. The nails on the carpet gripper rod between the bathroom and bedroom were protruding, I asked for this to be rectified so it may have been done by now.
An attractive, traditional public house with comfortable, on suit accommodation. The staff were welcoming and helpful. A cooked breakfast was included in price. Good selection available for midday or evening meal.
There were one or two small items with regard to the accommodation that needed attention.
Lovely garden with play area for children excellent cooked breakfast
Very close to main road
the room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly
i had 2 windows in my room and both needed the curtains to be closed whenever i was in it as one looked straight out onto the beer garden and the other a busy road ( disappointing as the sun was out) i needed to leave promptly on my last day so pre ordered my breakfast choice for 7 am only ot find the chef hadn't yet arrived at 7am when i arrived for breakfast so had to go without! ( tables weren't set up for cereal either) i'd pre ordered it as i found the service had been slow both at breakfast and evening meal ... and thought pre ordering may solve this problem... disappointed, but one of things i guess
Very limited food menu. Noisy main 'A' road right outside window. 'Tired' room needs updating.
Excellent food served. Lovely new rooms. Really nice staff.
Looks a little grubby in places.
badly stained carpets, holes in the floor, poor service at breakfast, very thin duvet, very badly laid out room,
The staff were very friendly, which helped as I was travelling alone (female). Food was good, room clean and comfy. Would recommend
Found the traffic noise from the main road a little disturbing - as I am not used to hearing traffic noise. Double glazing would have helped dull this
Food was good
Room unfinished. Bed uncomfortable. House keeping not up to standard
The friendliness of the staff and the steak dinner
The staff are very welcoming and friendly. If I or my partner had a question or an issue with anything they done everything they could to help. The place is very clean and the food was out of this world
We had a few problems which Asher was very apologetic for and tried to help. He managed to rustle up a wonderful sandwich for us late Sunday evening. The breakfasts were superb. Had requested a quiet room and they accommodated us by putting us at the far end of the inn, away from people drinking outside, which was appreciated.
We arrived on the Friday and our room was not cleaned when we returned Saturday night. On Sunday our dirty towels were just left on the bedroom floor and the bed was not made, nor was the bathroom cleaned. I also found 2 finger nails on the carpet!
