Family-run country house hotel set in 3 acres of delightful grounds, overlooking Derwent Valley and the Fells beyond.
Score from 146 reviews Very good
I stay away on business several times a week, usually in the Premier Inn chain. This hotel far exceeds the standard of this chain in accommodation standard, food quality and staff professionalism. When next in the area I will stay at this hotel again.again.
Really good value good breakfast handy location for us.
beds could be comfier
Stopped here a few times & always friendly. Bar & food service & quality very good. Great value all round.
Rooms are dated but for the odd night this is not a major put off.
Bright light dining area/ excellent full English breakfast Accessible hotel close to A66
Even though it was a very quiet time of year, the service we received was fantastic and I will be stopping again. Breakfast was perfect and nothing was too much trouble. It's clearly an old hotel but the rooms felt fresh and clean and have obviously been updated recently. Free Wi-fi is a bonus as signal in the Lakes can be dreadful.
Breakfast was great
The staff were extremely kind, efficient and friendly. I would recommend this without reservation.
Friendly Staff Great Food Good Location
Food was nice
Rooms noisy, paper thin walls and doors def more motel than hotel. Beds poor quality
This is great little hotel, clean, comfortable, friendly staff, with Good service Comfortable beds Exec room (with sofa) Value for money Good food reasonably priced. So glad we going it - would stay again.
Lovely hotel nice meals and friendly staff
Poor phone signal
Spacious rooms Lovely corner bath as requested Very comfortable Very modern Would definitely come back
Cheap and cheerful and no problems.Low cost so good value.
Chalet syle rooms, nice quiet location. Handy for main road A595. Good food, wide choice, exellent breakfast.
No nearby shop.
Food was excellent and bed was extremely comfy. A great hotel and a great night's sleep
The lighting in the car park is very poor which makes access in the evening more difficult
Good location as we were a party of seven meeting up from different parts of the country.Panoramic views across a constantly changing landscape.
Toilet seat in en suite was broken when we arrived and had to be changed. Only cold water came out of the shower on the second morning; poor excuses given. Waitresses handed food across the table instead of going round and serving from the side; they also left the menus on the table and expected the diners to hand them out. Fish cake actually had cardboard in it but no apology received or compensation offered until demanded so quite unacceptable; supplier was blamed not chef. Incorrect bills given after each meal.Very poor staff training in the basics. Not a taste of traditional hospitality at all.
Everything about the hotel was fabulous. Cleanliness and comfort appeared to be a high priority The staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful, suggesting places of interest to visit. Brilliant breakfast served in the conservatory. We as a family group will definitely be returning again. We can highly recommend this hotel
We didn't like the fact that we had to leave.
The staff, The comfort of the bed, The food, everything about the place was just great,Our friends who live in Greysouthern, joined us for Dinner both nights and am sure will be going back, each and every one of the staff were friendly. Thanks for a great weekend break, looking forward to our next visit in the spring of 2015
Room was good, clean and well decorated Breakfast good Staff very nice
We had the last room available so it was on the top floor. Too much for us. To stay again, we personally will have to ensure a room lower down.
all very good.
Having the option to have main meals at night was a bonus. Fresh specials menue each night of our stay.
Staff friendly and pleasant. Hotel clean Location good for travel to lake district Good choice menu
There was not anything to dislike.
The staff were excellent and extremely welcoming and hospitable. They were quick to respond to all queries and ensured that they did all in their power to help me enjoy my stay. The room was great. There was plenty of space, plenty of storage and was spotlessly clean. The food available was top quality and was all made fresh to order. The conservatory was comfortable and welcoming to sit in and provided a nice relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy a meal.
The shower facilities were not great with the water being cold and never reaching a good temperature with variable pressure throughout. The bar was quite basic with a limited selection and no real ales to choose from
Everything. Staff, food, comfy bed..
