We had a great time in Whitby and the Middleham was an ideal base for our weekend break. The room was clean and had all conveniences you'd expect. The view of the sea was lovely and the owners even provided a set of binoculars for us to spy the ships on the horizon - a nice touch. The owners were really friendly and welcoming and accommodating of our needs. As for the location, it's only a couple of minutes to walk to the bay with all the shops, restaurants and sights. I'd highly recommend staying at the Middleham.

proprieters were very welcoming and friendly nothing was a problem the hotel was spotlessly clean fantastic breakfast all you could want for a short weekend break away we will definatley be back this year. room 10 right at the very top of guest house which we were in had fantastic views but it was very small which did not put us off because it was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. next time we stay we will ask for a different room i prefer a little extra space as this was like an attic room where the ceiling sloped down over half the room

The breakfast was very tasty as much as you could eat stayed in room 5 on second floor it was a good size, better than the top floor which would have been a squeeze The shower, it wasnt more than a trickle it advertised central heating, however it was turned off during the night - woke up freezing smelt damp with wet windows not a winter place to vacation could only use the lounge 5-10pm and there was no fire to warm the place up

We received a warm welcome, the room was lovely, clean with lots of nice little touches. The location was excellent, just a very short walk from the beach, the town centre, pubs and restraunts. The full english breakfast was also excellent making a great start to the day. Brilliant all round and would well recommend The Middleham to anybody. Thanks to the staff

Friendly staff, good breakfast, lots of thoughtful touches eg binoculars to better enjoy the view from the window, good comfortable bed. Would have liked a little more headroom- we had a room on the top floor which was somewhat restricted for space .

Location, cleanliness, breakfast, comfortable beds, friendly hosts. Cramped room in attic space up 4 flights of stairs, only 1 small hard wooden chair to sit and 'relax'. Very low beam in the ceiling about 5' 4"off the floor and quite dangerous. Tiny en suite, not even able to fit the wash hand basin in there, this was in the actual bedroom. Dismal , dated decor. Poor value for money. Hosts not happy to change to room.

We had a most enjoyable stay over 4 days in Mick and Sheila's attractive and well run guest house. They were both extremely attentive to our needs and we would have no hesitation in staying with them again should we return to the delightful town of Whitby.

The Middleham was spotlessly clean, we recieved a warm and friendly greeting upon our arrival and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was outstanding and kept us going for most of the day! If we stay in Whitby again The Middleham will be our first choice.

The breakfasts were excellent. Owners are lovely people.Very pleasant guest house, ideally situated. Room was in a very small attic, up several flights of stairs. I suppose that we got what we paid for. Would have liked a slightly longer time option for breakfast. 8Am to 9am is a bit early for weekend.Otherwise we had a pleasant stay.

Loved the friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Sadly of the 4 days and 3 nights there we only had the interned for one day. Picture of the twin room deceptive. Does not show the very low part of the roof which comes down and over one of the beds.

Everything about the Middleham is great from the owners who do everything they can to please to the location. If you book a sea view thats just what you get with the added touch of a pair of binoculas to see it better. That we didn't stay longer.

Attention ro detail was amazing, remembering what you left on your breakfast plate and asking if you wanted it leaving off the next day...very thoughtful. Very welcoming proprietors and conmfortable surroundings. ***** Although I never asked for anything in particular, I got the impression that they would bend over backwards to help. The sink being in the bedroom, seemed strange brushing teeth in room and filling kettle etc. It just took some getting used to!

very nice people and everything in the guest house was of good quality, clean and comfortable. High standard of decoration. Very good food. unfortunately my wife is disabled and I had forgotten to request a downstairs room, and had to take a three story one, With no lift it was difficult but we managed, and were very happy there
