Good quality food. Nice friendly staff. Nice bedroom with an Excellent shower. Would definitely stay again.
Jacuzzi bath, free champagne, good media devices in the room.
Bed wasn't as comfortable as I expected it to be on appearance. Pillows were not to my liking being underfilled.
Just off the motorway, very convenient for the outlet malls, reasonably priced, good facilities and excellent service from all staff.
Having to walk in the wind and rain to the bar and breakfast room.
If recommend the Mill Forge Hotel to anyone, I booked at short notice and was able to get a room. Upon arrival we were greeted so politely and kindly, picked up our key and off we went to our room, which was its own little chalet with its own front door. The bed was comfy, the room was cosy and spacious, would definitely recommend.
The water didn't really heat up in the shower in the morning but it wasn't intolerable.
Everything was excellent from the location to the staff who were very pleasant and helpful
Quiet, comfortable, food excellent, staff very friendly. A lovely weekend break
Drinks prices in bar on the high side but no other negitives spring to mind.
Staff friendly when booking in making it a smoothe process. Rooms adequate. Breakfast good with excellent service.
I could not fault it rooms lovely staff pleasant and very cheap stay.
We both enjoyed the room, for it was neat, tidy n very well laid out. Oh I enjoyed the shower. The reception was light airy n pleasant to enter. Breakfast was nice but could do with more to chose from.
We didn't use the bar so can not comment. Noise from some water pipes, n not bagpipes, lol.
lovely location, lovely big room, had a brill night sleep lovely breakfast we got room on a offer price which made it a reasonable price as I wouldn't have paid more
disappointed wifi only available in bar there was a wedding on and we waited 45 minutes to be seated for dinner! which wasn't that great! some of the staff were less than polite!
Interesting set up of old buildings. Good meals.
Beautiful surroundings and all on one level. Friendly informative staff and manager.
Single bed was quite hard.
Welcomed warmly. Large clean room/chalet. Good access. Decent breakfast.
Experience of restaurant was only negative. seemed like a builders cafe. Served starter size meals disguised as full meals with use of various containers on the plate but charged restaurant main meal prices. Radio blaring on some chat station. Bright spot lights. Wifi did not work even when standing under modem in bar.
One small problem, we could hear the little boy next room and his mother reading him a story. As we are grand parents ourselves we put up with it
the setting was very good very clean nice well set out rooms .
food lets it down . evening meal steaks uneatable all frozen chips veg overcooked breakfast basic
We got married here last year and we came back for our anniversary. My husband booked a secluded table with a candle for our evening meal for something special. They put our table at the back with screens behind us which was nice of them. They keep the gardens lovely and they are well kept. Nice and quiet even though it is next to the Motorway.
We weren't made to feel special even though it was our 1st Anniversary none of the staff even wished us a Happy Anniversay even though they knew it was our anniversary. We booked a double room but very disappointed in the size of the room as we had a little one with us. Also we were rudely woken up by our neighbours in room 17 about 12.30am very loud laughing, talking, singing and banging around in the room (sounded like they had people in the room with them) and when the people left the couple started arguing loudly which didn't help either. As reception isn't 24 hours at Mill Forge you couldn't phone anyone to help or anything. They don't seem to have a back up plan if anyone had any problems after the reception had closed for the night.
Staff were extremely well organised, pleasant and service was excellent - they are clearly used to responding and providing good service to wedding groups. Lovely surroundings and quite novel to have sheep in your garden . The room wasn't very wide and the beds felt hard but I slept really well and we managed really well considering there was three in the room, everything we needed.
We knew it was a wedding venue so it was a little noisy in the restaurant but everyone was having a good time and we didn't mind , we knew when we book it was potentially busy wedding period. The toilet/ shower room was tight with nowhere to place your toiletries .
Accessible, friendly, and good shower!
Easy to get too
Drunken wedding guests, not hotels fault.
Rural setting of hotel was good. Welcome in reception warm and friendly. Room cleanliness was good as was the bathroom and shower. Tea making facilities and biscuits proved to be a godsend! Enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast!
Arrived at 8.50 pm to check in, had been held up due to accident. No food available stopped serving at 8.45. Difficult to find food available locally.
Excellent ambience. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Food in restaurant good as well.
charming great breakfast unique
Located on the border region of Scotland. The hotel is often used for wedding guests. The attention to details is lovely. We had a room across the courtyard which provided an entrance vestibule, bathroom and bedroom. The room was a nice size, had a decent amount of space for luggage. Tea and coffee provided, along with an ironing board, iron and trouser press as standard. The bathroom could have done with being a little bigger. We ate in the restaurant. The food delicious and the staff attentive. Breakfast was served upstairs the following morning and again excellent food and service.
price of drinks
Great hotel. Breakfast was included, rooms were clean and staff were friendly.
Located 3 miles from Gretna so was an eight pound taxi
