The location is superb and of special note was the breakfast, truly, for this type of establishment, of the highest standard.
The whole place was friendly and welcoming. We arrived in time for dinner with our dog, and had a nice table in a quiet corner of the restaurant where our dog could lie under the table. The food was wonderful, followed by just as good a breakfast the next morning. Our room on the top floor (served by a lift) was quiet and nice, with a nice countryside view. The friendly staff pointed us in the right direction for a good walk with our dog in the morning. We will definitely be back and will recommend the hotel to our friends.
The bed was possibly a bit hard as it was very new. But this was a very minor drawback.
beds a bit too soft - all four of us thought so, but everything else so good, it would not put us off returning
Room would have been cosier if carpeted.
Lovely location. Comfortable clean rooms and excellent dinner and breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Nothing. Liked it all.
Comfortable room and good food
Rooms were of decent size and very clean. Wonderful meal in restaurant.
Shower could have been hotter
Food was good served by friendly staff and excellent wine list
Friendly staff, cleanliness, good size room.Breakfast very good. good choice of menu using local produce. dog friendly .
Good location, friendly staff
Avoid room four!! Extraction fan went in at 6.30am and woke us up. Very loud!! Didn't stop until late at night.
Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff
The double bed was far too small.
Food, bar, decor, lovely countryside location fantastic view.
food outstanding dog friendly relaxed lounge/bar
Good sized rooms, comfortable beds, friendly attentive staff waterside location. Breakfast very good , freshly cooked and served promptly.
Excellent location. Extremely comfortable an clean. Very welcoming ambience. Good food. A very enjoyable stay.
A well-furnished hotel with a most comfortable bedroom in lovely surroundings. The dinner was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast included in the room rate was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
The location is a bit remote from M6 which is good but involves going through the middle of Lancaster which isn't.
Excellent views over canel & surrounding countryside Friendly efficient service Good food and good beer Comfortable room, nicely decorated, and very clean
One minor thing: water pressure in shower was weak and variable (presumably depending on other users)
Clean modern room with comfy bed
Great efforts May to source local produce but then served with non uk butter.
Breakfast was well-cooked. The bar and restaurant are inviting - we felt like it would have been nice to spend time there if we hadn't made other arrangements. Our room had good facilities, including a couple of comfortable chairs.
We were assigned a room at the back of the property, and our room was close to what sounded like a generator or ventilator. This made it difficult to get to sleep, and to get back to sleep once woken up by the noise. It rained in the night, and we were woken by the sound of water pouring out of the gutters and down the wall of the property near our window. There was a lot of noise from other guests above us - clumping around late at night, and the sound of taps being turned on, loos flushing. This kept us awake and we were woken by the same level of noise in the morning. The member of staff we interacted seemed a bit stressed and grumpy.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Spacious comfortable rooms. Good restaurant and bar.
Not enough pictures or artwork in rooms - felt slightly characterless.
Everything was of the usual high standard
the overall atmosphere the location the breakfast
Didn't sleep well during our 3 night stay - the pillows were poor quality and the bed was uncomfortable and noisy. The room was also very warm. There was no means of reviewing our stay before checkout, had there been I would have made these comments.
The location is perfect right beside the canal lock in a rural area set back from the road with no passing traffic so very peaceful. There is easy access to local walks yet Lancaster is only 4 miles away, by footpath or car. We were visiting our daughter at the university and again you are on the right side of town for that! The staff we encountered were all friendly, pleasant, helpful and efficient, there is a relaxing bar area with sofas, chairs and tables for chatting etc. we were taken through promptly on each of the three evenings we were there for, for our evening meal. The meals we had (incl. breakfast) were all delicious, (compliments to the chef!, forgot to say that when we were there) We stayed in a standard double room and that was perfectly adequate, clean, comfortable, plenty of space. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and if you pick this hotel we hope you do to!
