Location was good as was the price . Good breakfasts . Helpful staff.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Views of the river and scenery are lovely. Very comfortable and clean. Did not eat there this time but previously have done and very good quality and value for money.
Wi fi in rooms not strong
As ever the location - we really enjoyed walks across the water meadows. We had a lovely room with great views along the mill stream.
The food wasn't as good generally as when we stayed in the summer (when we had seen a definite improvement) although for the most part was perfectly acceptable. We were disappointed that the breakfast sausages were poor in comparison to the sausages served in the bar which were excellent. Excellent customer service in the bar and restaurant which was not matched by one receptionist who seemed under-trained.
Excellent choice of breakfast
Couldn't find a hairdryer which we were told was in a BAG IN THE WARDROBE who would think to look there. Car park poorly signed missed it and parked on the road.
The Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the food was very good and open fire a delight.
noise from next room, the wall between our room 21 and room 22 not sound proof at all
Lack of bedroom space and no chair!
Nice location next to the river, even saw a kingfisher from our room window. Large room (superior) but no bath. We ate in the restaurant and were perplexed by the varied quality of the dishes and the fairly useless female staff member who seemed to be in charge.
We have been using this Hotel for about 12 years. We love the location and find it really relaxing. This time round the staff were excellent. Very friendly, helpful and always seemed to know what was expected of them. There have been times when the staff have been a little disorganised so I feel the management team should be congratulated and long may it continue. We had a super few days and will certainly be back again. Than you.
Lovely place with lots of character
Turn up the heating and light the fire! It's winter!!
friendly staff good accommodation cleanliness location
wifi poor/not working couldn't cope at peak times during breakfast no leisure/gym facilities
My room was unbelievably stuffy and hot, with no heating on,and window open, december. For that reason,I checked-out a day early, because it dehydrated me.
Fantastic location - wonderful and views and walks over the meadows and Sudbury is good for shopping and historical interest. Lovely room - well designed, well equipped
No real fires lit
Staff very friendly and helpful, lovely location and views.
Breakfast plates and glasses a little dirty
Location of the room away from main part of the hotel where functions were held but we heard nothing.
The fact that I was able to get a room so close to the event
That breakfast was an extra £9.95 on top of a basic room for £69
Breakfast was nice
Silly rules about when you could check in and when lunch was available etc Room tiny Pillows too soft Staff member was rude when trying to order a taxi
Being pursued for money which I thought I'd paid. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. If I find when checking bank statements that I've paid twice then recriminations will follow if the money has not been refunded
Comfy kingsize bed and massive room. Outlook onto lake. Excellent selection of tea and coffee. Clean room. Walking distance to town is 5 minutes. Lovely fluffy white towels. supply of shower gel, shampoo and body lotion.Windows that can be opened and adjustable heating.
Not enough light in shower room. Had to put makeup on in bedroom. We did mention this to staff when we were there. Otherwise nothing. Good value clean hotel.
Been here before, it's a Lovely location.
For the 1st time on my visits they have started charging extra for breakfast and at £10.00 total rip off. So i visited the local Wetherspoons instead, nice breakfast good value at £3.39.I paid £99.00 just to sleep there, cannot believe breakfast not included at that price.
Shower was good! Breakfast was nice but expensive!
Over priced Should have been told at check in that breakfast was an extra £10 each!
Fabulous views and location by the meadows, we enjoyed a lovely quiet walk in the frost in the morning. The room was comfortable and clean, and toasty warm. The receptionist ensured we had a good room since there was a wedding on and they were conscious of noise and the bar staff friendly. The room was very reasonably priced.
There wasn't any water in the room on arrival and we were both parched having travelled a long way. Reception in the evening - the lady was extremely helpful and warm and welcoming, reception in the morning was an entirely different experience - younger receptionist who clearly took no pride in her job. The breakfast experience completely let this hotel down, the decor is lacking in such a beautiful building, the buffet was unnecessary since there were only 4 tables and the food was lukewarm, coffee was brought in a pot and far too strong with 4 members of staff standing chatting - with the staff and resource they had on shift they could have made food to order, reduced the number of waiting staff and reduced what must have been a lot of wasted buffet food. Overall we were disappointed with the breakfast experience - there was no music and atmosphere and no papers unless you had ordered one for your room.
Good location, good staff and very good rooms which since my last stay have vastly improved with a good design.
Lot of stairs to climb to get to third floor as there is no lift.Water pressure in shower a little low.
The welcome when I walked in was warming and friendly everything was explained it was a pleasant and enjoyable stay only one night but wished I had booked more and will go back thank you
