Small old TV, remote was broken and taped up although working.
No room available when we arrived even though we booked 2.5 months in advance. They did find us a room in a nearby pub but ruined our weekend. It was our annual dinner and we wanted a relaxed night with out the worry of driving.
Mix up on the booking, they had us down for the Friday not Saturday Night.
Lovely breakfast! The illuminated Mill Wheel as you entered the bar area.
Unfortunately we weren't told there was no food after 6pm on a Sunday night. Also we requested a room with a bath and it was just a shower. The shower-room was cold and we had to ask for the heating to be put on in our room.
Bathroom dirty, especially floor. Carpets badly stained. One bed with top sheet, one without. Pillows very lumpy.
Excellent food and great value for money
Room very small. No toiletries in bathroom and not enough towels
The welcome the building The beers
our room felt damp/cold ground floor room
Waiting time for breakfast
Loved the fact that they still had the old Mill. It was encased in glass and gave the whole place a very oldy worldy feel. The bar had a lovely open fire and the staff were very polite. Room was very comfortable although small but it suited us for the night. Breakfast was well cooked and you did get the full english
Not a lot really!
Food Reception Friendly staff
The price for four nights was very reasonable. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room.
Although I liked the idea of a pie and a pint I waited a long time for it. When it did arrive, the meat was hard.
We stayed here overnight after spending the day exploring Caulk Abbey. Arrived at about 4pm and received a warm welcome from both the staff and the large open log burner. We got ourselves installed, quickly and headed for the restaurant. It was only serving Sunday fare but we found it to be well prepared (fresh veg.) and well worth the price. Bar is nicely laid with a number of comfortable couches and chairs to lounge on. The old mill wheel on show in the glass enclosure is a fascinating feature!! Our double room was perfectly adequate for our stay with hot drink facilities, TV and a hair dryer next to a good sized mirror (wife liked....). Large clean shower room with good shower. Plenty of hot water but the towels where a bit small to use as wrap-around's. Breakfast was excellent. Full English which almost stalled me. I was fine waiting till evening before attempting to eat again. Where planning on re-visiting the Abbey next spring and will be booking in again.
Nothing really...... maybe larger towels would be nice..... or I could loose a bit of weight.....
The history surrounding the mill wheel. Easily accessible. Atmospheric bar & dining room. Lively waitress with great sense of humour.
Friendly village pub atmosphere. Good value evening meal. Full English breakfast good.
We had twin room which was fine. Saw double room which was tight on space.
Generally very pleasant with a lovely freshly cooked English breakfast each morning. Good value for money
We were in a downstairs room next to the front door. Had the hotel been busy, it could have been noisey with guests entering and leaving
Accommodation away from the main Inn so quiet. Very good value for money, rooms a good size and bed very comfortable.Food excellent and good choice for evening meal and/or lunch. A very good cooked breakfast plus cereal etc.
Food and restaurant service were good, worth staying just for the food.
Room was a bit small and outdated
Everything was very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the food in the restuarant was really lovely. we would certainly stay again if we were in that area.
There was nothing to dislike
Quiet during the week, good food.
Room to small to have an armchair.
Restaurant food Size of room Comfortable bed Clean
Carpets stains Old TV Bathroom floor need retiling If the rooms were refurbished I would gladly pay £20-£30 more a night
Nice homely feel to it. Good food and nice ale selection
Room was a little small but for one night it was adequate
Requested a twin room as travelling with my son. Confirmed as having a twin room. Arrived to find we had been allocated a double and no twin rooms were available. Staff were incredibly unhelpful and didn't care. In the end we walked out and found somewhere else (far better I have to say). Definitely won't be staying there again.
Bar area Bathroom
Size of bedroom TV did not work Lamp bulb missing 1/2 menu not available Food very poor 1/2 hour wait for someone to arrive to see if we would like to order breakfast, then further 1/2 hour wait for it to arrive. Only 2 other people staying in hotel
I would recommend the pub and restaurant which were very nice, good food and the breakfast was very good too.
The room was very small, looked a bit like it was in the middle of being decorated (random streaks of paint on the wall) and didn't feel worth £50 for the night. Would go to the pub if I was in the area but not stay there over night again.
Good friendly staff and a good relaxed atmosphere
Breakfast started at 0730 this was too late for me as I started work at 0800 Specials menu is repetitive if you stay more than 2 days.
building ; atmosphere , good food - burgers need a size waring ,easy parking , quick check-in , good beer ; great bed , good bathroom
for a 6' 2" big lad the room was a wee bitty neat
