the venue was good
they mixed up our food order, and missed one meal off, they apologised at the time but that sort of mistake is irepairable as I was not eating with my family at the same time.also the room was not that clean.
If there is one thing I always check it's cleanliness if the bed & bath. While the bed was clean the bath & plug hole was full of hair. It really puts you off.
All staff helpful and friendly. Food very good. Bed very comfortable.
A lot of stairs to get to the room. Ok for me but would prove difficult for someone with mobility issues.
The staff were helpful and we had a very pleasant evening meal in the pub
The frosted glass in all the windows of the hotel
the location was very good for things to do in the New Forest and there was plenty of free parking.
No internet. Our room was small and very uninviting as it was dark due to small frosted windows. The central heating was very noisy (we did turn the radiator off) and the taps in the bath were extremely difficult to turn so that the cold water came out lukewarm. This room (4) must have been missed during the refurbishments!
The room was poor, small with no bath etc
Went for a weekend getaway with my girlfriend. Found the location to be perfect as was a short walk into the town but not on the main road so quiet location too. Room was ideal with a big comfy bed big bathroom. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in or around Lyndhurst
The staff were polite
The room (8)is described on the web site as bright and airy but it was more dingy and claustrophobic. It was much smaller than the photo on the web site. The windows were frosted as well as having net curtains. They only opened by about an inch to reveal a view of a flat roof and extractor system from the kitchen below. This was switched on at 6.30 in the morning so sleep was disturbed. The mattress had seen better days and I could feel the springs. The pillows were really hard. The furniture in the room was dated. There were no drawers, just an open front wardrobe. The carper was also dated and dark whic, coupled with the battleship grey paintwork added to the generally dreary atmosphere. It appears they must have had a job lot of this paint as it is found throughout the corridors leading to the rooms. There were quite a few stairs and corridors to get to the room and several fire doors so if you have heavy suitcases this can be difficult to manoevre. It certainly resembles a rabbit warren! The single glazed window frames in the room were very dirty. The bathroom extractor fan did not work and the hand basin was really slow to drain away. The bathroom smelt of bad drains. There were no toiletries supplied and no shelf in the shower to put your own whillst showering. The handle on the shower door was missing. A spare towel was supplied instead of a bath mat. I had one breakfast during my stay and one evening meal. My overall impression of the food was "grubby" (no pun intended). The bacon had black bits on it. The chips at the evening meal appeared mucky. Maybe the oil in the deep fat frier could do with changing. The bar prices were quite high. The outside patio heater was not working and the area was poorly lit so uncomfortable to sit in. I realise that these days smokers are in the minority but most hotels provide some facility for them. I cannot recommend this hotel and would not stay there again.
needs to be re-decorated
The room was small. It felt like the double bed had been squeezed in. Part of the bed was sticking out (not been put together properly according to the receptionist) and due to the lack of room, this was a hazard, resulting a cut and bruise to my foot
Very welcoming good atmosphere good food
The breakfast was a bit dry and the coffee was only warm but we did come down near the end of breakfast time.
The hotel was good, staff were very helpful and more than accommodating. The village is nice. The only problem was the bed, we booked a double room and got 2 singles pushed together. Slightly irritating and uncomfortable at times but not a deal breaker
The beds were the only thing.
The staff were all very helpful offered bowls of water for guide dog when in bar. They didn't hassle us by keep coming over asking if everything was ok.
Unfortunely we had people above us who were like elephants til silly o'clock as someone who's registered blind I need my sleep more than most as I have working guide dog so always giving instructions to him.
Staff Evening meal & breakfast Room & facilities
Limited sleep due to a dog in the room above moving around, making loud noises until 4.00 am!! However, when we complained about this, we were given a reasonable refund on the cost of our stay.
Upgraded to a huge family room which had acres of space and was really comfortable. Breakfast was easy, good selection, staff very helpful and accommodating. Parking on site. We had a great time - thank you!
The staff were friendly and helpful . They solved a problem in our room straight away Even coming back the next day to check all was ok
Having medical problems with my knees I found the stairs a bit of a challenge
staff lovely, food amazing and good value! Room to hot and bed not in best of health but staff very apologetic and discount given
relaxing evening after working trip food excellent
leaving for another work day
Great Location friendly staff good breakfast tea/coffee in rooms lovely stay would return
We enjoyed our stay immensely the staff were very helpful and friendly Our evening meal was delicious and we shall definitely return in the near future.
Staff very attentive and helpful. Menu nicely varied, but wines excessively priced.
Room rather small. Hand basin was slow to clear and shower control difficult to operate. View from room an ugly flat roof ie room number 4.
Large rooms, character hotel, brilliant location, good restaurant below and on site parking no problem.
so comfortable, relaxing bed, clean and tidy room with any extras you may need, like hair dryer and a fan. the staff were very helpful and happy to help if needed. loved it!!
not a great cooked breakfast and defiantly would not pay the price for one but as it was included in the room then felt no need to complain
quiet comfortable good food value for money
