A very friendly welcome and helpful staff with regard to location and facilities. An excellent full English breakfast served with a smile. Excellent location and we will arrange a return visit very soon The stairs - simply too many of them |

The room was exceptional from a design standpoint. The Pub was great with a wide selection of ales. The breakfast was also very good. Unfortunately, the street noise was too much. Can't blame the hotel, but it is a reality. |

An excellent location and an interesting inn with a nice atmosphere and a pleasant room. Method of payment - no cards!? Strange breakfast situation - quite dangerous carrying hot drinks from the bar area to the breakfast room; all the guests thought it was a strange setup. Poor TV reception. Door card kept failing. |

The veiw of the MInster from the excellent beer garden, the room was tastefully decorated, the food was very good. The staff weren't as energetic as you'd expect, plus long queues at the bar for food / drink, one person behind the bar. |

it was centrally based so easy access to all of york attractions, restaurants, pubs etc. staff were very friendly and welcoming. we had great weather so walk to nearby guy fawlkes for breakfast and distance to car park was not a problem for us though could understand why this could be. breakfast served until 10:30 would have been preferred as i like my lazy mornings when on holiday!! |

Hotel is in a great location. Lovely room and very comfortable bed. Having to go up the road for breakfast was a bit boring, but it was worth the walk as it was delicious! |

Well presented, friendly, warm, cosy and superbly located, virtually in the shadow of the minster. Very nice place. The room was tidy but the odd bulb didn't work and some soap in the bathroom would've been nice. |

The history behind the hotel was great and the location was fantastic I booked the hotel and gave my credit card deatils expecting to pay this way. However when we checked out we was told that the credit machine was not working and we had to pay by cash which we did not have. Many guest was not happy about this so me and my husband had to go to a bank and draw money out between us. If we had known this when we had checked in we could have saved some money! |

The location is fantastic and so was the room. Really atmospheric and nicely furnished. Felt/looked really luxurious. Not sure if I would have paid the full price but for the Booking.com discounted rate it was a complete bargain. Thank you We didn't like the fact the staff didn't tell us that we had to go down to their other hotel - Guy Fawkes for breakfast (although it was an excellent cooked breakfast) or that they couldn't recieve card payments when we came to check out, but they did apologise and told us where the nearest cash point was! |

The room was tastefully decorated, clean and the bed was good. A few points of concern. I wasnt able to pay by Visa, a basic need in this day and age. wasnt that keen on going to get cash at 8 int the morning. Also having to go to another hotel 100 yards down the road for breakfast was not ideal! |

the bed was v comfy, fab location, wonderful building - potential to be the best in York tiny box room; not enough room or plugs to boil kettle;Tv didnt work; had to pay by cash?!; breakfast down the road at another establishment (v inconvenient); website said price of room included dinner but when arrived was told it didnt. Shame really. |

The room and atmosphere Even though the breakfast was lovely we had to leave the hotel to get it and go to another hotel - we were not advised of this prior to our stay |

Its central location, stylishly decorated and relaxed atmosphere assisted by friendly staff. Including a cooked breakfast at the Lamb and Lion, additional to continental, would demonstrate greater value for money and therefore enhance our stay. |

Lovely quaint Inn, lovely snug public rooms, and excellent attic bedroom Very confusing arrangements for car parking - in public car park about 1/2 mile away. |

The convenience of the location. Also the room was pleasant. There was confusion about the parking permit, although we ended up payong for the parking and had the amount refunded. The breakfast was not great and the staff who were on duty in the morning were not paticularly helpful. |
