Ben, the member of staff who greeted us was very polite and helpful. The room had all the facilities and the beds were very comfortable. We all had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend to friends and family and would use it again.
Was quite noisy at night due to it's central location and the street lamp did shine straight into the bedroom as the curtains were very thin.
No disabled facilities, ie no lift. poor bedding bottom sheet didn't fit & no spare pillows Very noisy. Shower head very low
excellent location, bed very comfy, staff very friendly
bar very busy, being so central there was noise, to be expected for location but something to bear in mind
Friendly staff, good service, comfy bed and warm room
Loads of stairs, non ensuite bathroom a bit grim
Perfect central location. Price. Good size double bed.
Cold. Really cold. Poor WI-FI signal on top floor rooms. Shared bathroom double room is more expensive than private bathroom single.
The price was excellent as was the location
Unfortunately I could feel every spring in the mattress I feel the bed would be much better with a memory foam mattress topper. Also the room was a bit cold because the windows were a bit draughty
I have stayed here twice. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. The pillows are lovely and comfy!
View of a wall this time around. Some of the decor cheaply done - but ok.
Staff were great. Great location for shopping and plenty of pubs around. Breakfast was very nice and the rooms were spotless. Would definatley stay here again
Just the location
The place is scruffy and dirty the shower was useless and the breakfast was a disgrace I would not recommend a stay here the staff were unhelpful and All in all 0 out of 10
Nice old hotel in the centre of Manchester. Perfect for train and shopping.
Price Staff Location
Facilities, a tad run-down
The man at the reception tried to make the situation better.
We booked a room non ensuite double. On booking.com is written that some of them have cathedral view - none of them have it! They look both (there are only 2) into the court. In the first room it smelled awful and there was a really little window - when you opened it, it was totally noisy because of the technical instruments. After a long discussion we got the other room, which was slightly better, but also no view at all. The bathroom was most of the time not clean enough to shower. The breakfast was moreless ok, nothing special.
Location, Cleanliness , Decor,
Booked 2 rooms, both were freezing as heating didn't work until time to get up! (8am). Indifference of staff to above problem
Very good location
Breakfast was appalling , asked and received a refund. Didn't seem to be many members of staff , one lady seemed to be doing everything
Located in commercial area
Very helpful, polite & friendly staff, good food at dinner ( in the attached bar) &willingness to accommodate special dietary requirements, good view from bedroom window (lower room), nice decor. Reception area - comfortable and welcoming (nice, relaxing fish tank).
Not much provision at breakfast for vegans and / or special dietary requirements, beds not very comfortable, no or not enough hooks in bedroom/bathroom, rooms a bit cold.
No bathroom in room , slanted roof in bedroom definitely not stopping again . could have stayed in prem inn for same price.
No heating in room nor bathroom (ensure) . It seems they knew they had heating problems but I was not informed when I checked in No wifi in room Bathroom in v poor condition Scruffy decoration in the room No curtains Breakfast was very poor for the price.
There is no parking nearby.
The staff were very helpful and looked after us over breakfast which was very good value for money.
The staff were so friendly. Ben the receptionist could not have been any more helpful and so sociable. Nothing was any trouble. The cleaner was also really friendly. The location was fabulous and even the staff in the bar were great! Considering the town was so busy we were always afforded good attention. A fabulous night's sleep in those comfy beds.
Granted the building is really old but if anything could be improved it is probably the decor of the bathroom. That said, it was very clean and spacious and would not put us off booking the same room again (Room 23).
Location excellent, clean room. Old building with charm.
Breakfast left a lot to be desired and expensive for what it was. Access is difficult. Needs updating.
Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was full of character. Definitely value for money.
The location is opposite Harvey Nichols and handy for Xmas markets or cathedral x Palace Theatre was a good 20 minutes walk.
It's in the heart of Manchester and that comes with huge crowds and lots of noise. The taxi's from the train station (Piccadilly for me) refused to take me to the hotel. They said it's impossible to park. So 20mins walk ensued. The hotel staffs were great but the room was very small for two adults and an 11 year old. No hair dryer and towels that resembled hand towels ( although clean and white). Overall a budget hotel but I will not be staying again.
Comfy and clean rooms. Well situated for shopping and bars
