Good location , near to some good bars and places to eat. All staff were very helpful and cheerful which contributed to a happy relaxed atmosphere.
Toilet didn't flush properly, and bathroom tired -- but for the price, no complaint
Location, went to a concert at the arena, just a short walk. Also near to the shops as well.
I love the location and the spacious room
No bin in room and shower ran cold
Location. Staff friendly but did not seem to know much about Manchester or the transport system!
Bathroom really small - no facility for hanging wet towels. Very old fashioned. Bathrooms needed updating.
Great if you want a night out in Manchester, or like me want a comfortable stop while travelling friendly staff, night access and clean, great on a budget.
Quiet room despite central location with beautiful views of the cathedral. Had a lovely olde world feel with sloping floors, beams and arched windows.
Bathrooms could use updating however it wasn't a problem, not like you spend long in there!
Conveniently placed for the Arena, shops and other attractions
Room wasn't has advertised.we complained about breakfast it was cold.Had already booked for May so hopefully our stay then will be better
Low cost and clean
Friendly staff lovely room good bar thanks!! .
Staff excellent, discount at the bar, very nice rooms.
Good do with a make over
it is lopsided which is fun at first and the location is great. Breakfast was good
it is lopsided Parking is not available. Doors all have huge gaps under them
Location - Beautiful looking hotel, a quiet pub next door (we couldn't hear it) and across the road from Harvey Nics, and dining room over looked the cathedral and has stunning view. The price - excellent value for the price & location.
Nothing bad - but the hotel is v old and rightly full of character - i.e. uneven floors etc and you couldn't stay here if you were unstable on your pins..
Location, value for money, friendly staff.
Friendly staff, clean and excellent location.
Excellent Location. Bed & bedding of good quality & very clean.
No blinds on the windows & the curtains provided were not blackout curtains. Could hear every noise outside all through the night & early morning. Ensuite bathroom very basic, hot water intermittent & the room was freezing in the morning. Smell of damp in the room. Random extra bed!
The room was spacious and the beds were comfy. Staff were friendly and the facilities were of a decent standard.
A hair left on the bed sheet and the shared bathroom could have been better.
Everything was perfect, great service, great room wasn't a fault in sight.
Lovely comfy bed. Top range TV Little condiments were the icing on the cake.
Wifi was a bit slow but was free so can't really complain!
Location to shops and restaurants. Rooms very basic but clean and tidy.
Poor service at breakfast including long wait with one person serving as well as checking out customers. Buffet style choice took a long time to be filled up.
Superb location, next to the cathedral and right opposite Selfridges, Harvey Nicks etc. Parking available a short walk away. Gorgeous coffee/tea shop next door. 5* staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Delicious, hearty cooked breakfast. With the half price rate the twin room (3 beds) was a steal.
Styling and decor leaves a bit to be desired, especially the hallway carpet!, and bathroom felt very basic with the lino flooring but, to be fair, with the old floor contorting at odd angles, it would be impossible to do much else!
Could not of been greeted any better. Friendly staff, even at the early hours after a night out! Comfy beds and good well stocked in room tea/coffee facilities.
The shower didnt work, no power to the power shower. The taps in the bath had a hole where the shower attachment would of been and when turning the taps on, the water just came out the hole on top.
Staff were pleasant
The place didn't have a great feel to it immediately. The location was good for what we wanted but that's where the positives end. The place was run down. The room was worse than my old uni room. Walls were cracked, single glazing windows which were cracked. Poor shower. Floor tiles were in poor condition. For 110 quid I expected significantly more. Never again.
Location was ace. I like old buildings with authentic floors that slop and creak! Quiet and comfortable night in the middle of a bustling city.
Myself and two friends stayed for one night at The Mitre as we were going to see Phoenix Nights at the arena. Location was excellent. Staff really friendly. Had a lovely meal in the bar when we arrived in the afternoon. Loved the decor of the bar and the rooms. Tea making facility in the room was a life saver. Loved the uneven floors and slanted steps as they were quirky and added character. Would definitely stay again.
Obviously with it being in the centre you will have some noise from outside but it didn't stop us from sleeping.
