service, location, and proficiency, room service food quality was excellent the hotel spared nothing to details but failed on some major things, the internet connection although was free as it should be nowadays, was very slow and unreliable, also the illumination of the room was depressing, and really for a 5 start luxury hotel it is quite cheap to push to single beds to make up an other size of bed, other than that everything was great |

Great, friendly staff. Very nice room, it was a little small but I did expect that having read other reviews and the room did look great. The room had a good, well positioned TV and an IPod dock with a good level of volume. I was a particular fan of the glass divide between bed and bath (which was a good size) but for privacy you can press and button and a blind comes down... if you really want to. I have stayed in hotels where you can hear some noise coming from the room next door, not here. Apart from the odd door slam from the corridor we didn't hear a peep from anyone else so felt more relaxed about the noise we made! I loved the small pool, Jacuzzi and sauna and these remained quiet and peaceful even on a busy Valentine weekend. The hotel restaurant 'Vetro' wasn't great. The staff were slow and on more than one occasion I had to ask for service. At the time when we ate it wasn't particularly busy given that it was Valentine weekend so you would expect they would have plenty of staff expecting a packed house. The food was good but even so, the sauce on my plate had a 'skin' when it arrived so I assume it had been sitting there for too long. The dressing on my girlfriend's dinner was overpowering for both of us but that might just be a matter of taste. The experience wasn't bad but could have been much better with more attentive, hardworking staff who spoke better English. One exception was an excellent Italian waiter but he had to try to cover the whole restaurant! |

Very Good evening meal in hotel restaurant with great staff. Wi fi not working correctly during my stay, problems with internet during my stay, TV system down. I have stayed at the Montcalm on many occasions over the last 10 years or so, the revamped "designer" edition does not come close to the old version. |

Staff were very friendly and helpful. They were quick to bring up room service and the door man was exceptionally attentive. Spa was lovely clean and new - however there was a small flood on the floor that no one seemed to address. Best of all we were up graded upon request to a portman double Double beds were a little small for a portman |

No plate warmers for breakfast. Good hot food on cold plates.No pepper on bany breakfast table. The most ridiculous waall freeze in sepia tones of bushes, a gravel path and an empty fountain!! Whayever were the interior designers thinking of and how could they possibly justify a cost for their services? On the subjuect of decor and furnishings, the communal areas, I.E. Reception, bar and restaraunt, had no theme. Furniture was modern, new and austere. I felt a great opportunity for design to compliment the identity of the hotel and at the same time establish a unique charm, had been lost. Thyere was also a 'service' charge added to my account, without explanantion. |

Excellent staff. Lovely room. Great location for Central London. Generally quiet. Bathroom luxurious but a bit cramped. Great to have a rain shower and body jets, but you soak the bathroom floor. Shower needs to be fully enclosed. Pool very small for a 5-star spa hotel. Not enough room to swim. |
