This former coaching inn is set in the heart of the New Forest and has wonderful views of wild heath land and a delightful function room.
Score from 51 reviews Good
Forest location with easy access (walking) to Burley Swimming pool - great for kids Nice large towels in rooms Lovely grounds & garden
Shortage of bar staff Old building means a few creaks here and there. You can hear doors slamming from other rooms etc More choice on bar menu - pasta, salads, pizza options would be good Kids activities in the garden Link to cycle hire companies so you can pre book via the hotel
Generally an excellent hotel - easy to see why it is such a popular wedding venue.
Staff were poorly trained - waitress didn't know how to open a wine bottle - ??? Pity it doesn't have a lift.
The food was good
The waiting staff were untrained. At breakfast waiting staff would stand whilst failing to pick up the used crockery. At dinner it was a complete shambles. We were asked to check the bill and found errors which were corrected.
I liked the location outside the village so quiet yet within easy walking distance of the village.
We booked room only but when the invoice was printed off it included a charge for breakfast which the receptionist said was automatically added on to room only bookings with no explanation when asked why. In fact one of the party paid before we realised. Beware.
A lovely relaxing location deep in the New Forest. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the swimming pool was very welcoming after a day out cycling. We would visit again.
Our only critique is that the room we were in had squeaky floorboards and we could hear noise from the guests in other rooms. Otherwise it was a lovely stay.
beautiful location and the food was good too.
Great location quiet surroundings
The room we were allocated was rather small and hot, the room had cobwebs on the ceiling and was above the swimming pool which had a noisy extractor fan running constantly. There was no mobile reception and the wifi did not work in the area we were staying. Overall very disappointed.
Good value for money, lovely room, nice view and decent staff.
The noise downstairs from the wedding, kept me awake until 1am.
Nothing-Staff were polite.
No lifts Overpriced basic rooms with duvets that were too short to cover you Room not ready 5 hours after the check in time Need a car, not near to shops/pubs or within comfortable walking distance of Burley village. Rooftop view not garden view as advertised Overcharged Had to even pay for newspaper-charged twice for one paper charged for dinner when told price included half-board Check your bill very carefully before you pay them glass of cheap wine £9 tel calls locally 25p per minute.
Lovely conference room
Dreadful lunch - we won't be coming back!
Food was good
There were numerous issues where we had reason to complained 1.Low pressure on the water causing the shower to be non effective and the toilet cistern taking ages to fill up. 2. Beds not made properly to the basic standard. 3. Noise from a) heavy vehicular traffic at 5am b) kitchen extract fans c) guests slamming doors at all times of the night We could go on but we have already made our concerns to the management at the hotel. I would be very reluctant to recommend your hotel
£8 for breakfast - which we didn't ask for on booking. 1 piece of toast, one egg, one rash of bacon. RIP OFF.
Window frames black with dirt. Unable to sleep in room 24 due to bar next door open untill 1.30am wlth wedding party.
Staff communication seemed to be a shambles. Ordered breakfast in our room which they forgot about despite reminding them twice. Left us waiting over hour in our room
Such a tranquil location in the heart of the New Forest away from any noise, apart from the sounds of the wildlife, so was very relaxing.
Having to leave!
Central location for the new forest and other attractions.
No breakfast included in price. Small food portions and expensive prices.
Location was far better than I thought
Previous guests empty complimentary bottles left in bathroom all of the visit! Should of been removed in daily clean
The gardens were beautiful and silence was relaxing.
The staff were young and showed in differences in front of us and let their attention go to each other rather than the guests.
Nice location for the New Forest Good food Friendly staff Efficient service
Room rather small with only one easy chair. Expensive for what is offered
Location, gardens, pool, sauna, room, staff
View from room, Restaurant. Gardens. Location.
Staff were very polite and accommodating
All facilities were not as good as others in the group Stayed in much better hotels for less or the same money. Floorboards are ridiculous and kept us and our young son awake Small beds and pillows that smell of someone else's perfume !
