The welcoming, single handed receptionist greeted us and showed us to our lovely, well equipped room. The bar area was really chilly. The candles in the fireplace are not a good substitute for a fire.

Its location is great for a stop over if travelling to or from Scotland. The hotel is presently having some work done converting some buildings to a spa. This is nearing completion so should hopefully shortly be finished.

The hotel has a warm, relaxed atmosphere, comfortable classic furnishings, beatiful wood panneling in the dining room, lobby, and snug and some corridors. The attention to detail was excellent, clean crisp cotton linen, comfortable beds, good bedroom furniture. It has a warm, classy feel to it and it a pleasure to spend time in. The food is excellent and very tasty and bar meals are very good value for money if you don't want to splash out at the restaurant. The modern textile pattern frames in the dining room - they spoilt the understated classic look. The downstairs public toilets need upgrading to match the rest of the hotel which has a feel of quality and elegance.

Friendly, helpful staff I'd rather have individual soap, shampoo than big bottles attached to the wall that don't really work

We stayed at the Morritt for a wedding. We stayed within the main hotel building. It was nice to have sofas in our room & the selection of tea/coffee/biscuits was good. The hotel was easy to find & the our room was clean & quiet. The staff were friendly & helpful. The hotel was a good venue for a wedding. Very impressed with the cottage within the hotel grounds in which the groom's extended family stayed & where we had a BBQ the night before the wedding. Overall we felt our room was a bit disappointing for the amount we paid for it. The small, soft & very squeaky bed meant we did not sleep well either night. The room was clean but there was a fairly large mould patch in the corner of the bathroom. The TV was small & was positioned in such a way that it could not be easily watched from the bed. The cooked breakfast was good but the buffet was quite poor (just basic cereals & fruit - no pastries, sliced cheese, etc). Croissants could be ordered from the menu but I received only one with a large amount of blue cheese (not usually a breakfast choice), and when I asked for another it arrived very burnt. Overall we enjoyed our stay but we felt it was not not the 'luxury' standard we were expecting for the price we paid.

Lovely locaton and well presented. Desk staff and day staff very friendly as were the staff on duty duting the reception. Inclusive feeling to the day all in all and nothing felt contrived. I can't think of anything I didn't like. The only thing that was not perfect was the failed arrival of some Earl Grey tea I requested after the wedding meal when others were having coffee - It was served to me the following morning with breakfast. I think the availability of vegi sausage and bacon would be great for us non meat eaters; that's something that always gets extra marks in my opinion.

Filled with character, particularly liked the sporting themed prints/paintings. Our room was lovely, and we were particularly happy that you were dog friendly.Helpful and friendly staff. A little more parking would've been helpful. Was okay later on in the evening, but earlier on, it was difficult to park our vehicle (with dogs inside) as safely as I would've liked. A minor inconvenience though.
