With incredible mountain views, this traditional, family-owned guest accommodation has a real log fire and wooden beams in its cosy bar and restaurant.
Score from 80 reviews Very good
Location and outdoor beer garden Friendly, helpful staff Comfortable room Lunch menu was varied and food of good quality. Wide range of interesting, locally brewed beers and ciders.
Evening menu was pretty much the same as the lunch menu apart from two further choices for each course. Food was plain but well cooked.
Location, isolated, but Windermere & Ambleside within easy reach. Charming room, clean, comfortable and with great views. Good breakfasts - plenty of choice and cooked to order. Great views from dining rooms. Friendly and obliging staff.
Our evening meal service was very slow. The hotel would benefit from a residents sitting room, I feel. Somewhere to sit and take in the restful atmosphere. Nitpicking perhaps!
This was our 3rd visit. Food excellent. Dog friendly. Very good atmosphere.
Cooking smells too pervasive throughout hotel.
Like the view, people and service
Location, staff very pleasant
Tired appearance in general rooms and limited menu
Very friendly staff. Real pub atmosphere. Pleasant dining area. Fantastic location. Food fairly good. Good value for money
Rooms a bit small but that is difficult to change.
The location of this place is outstanding. The staff were excellent, our room was beautiful, difficult to fault!
Rooms were very quiet and peaceful. Excellent location and lovely views.
Would have liked more vegetarian options on the menu.
All of it It was a lovely impromptu stay
Surroundings, service, food , drink and friendliness. Good variety of beers.
A piece of egg-shell in my poached egg at breakfast (not really much of a problem), and more car park spaces would be helpful at busy times.
Very very friendly staff food excellent views from dinning room magic can't wait to return
Food and the views.
Good evening meals. Views from hotel Pleasant staff
Tired decor Disorganised staff though pleasant Long wait for mediocre breakfast on one occasion Small dated bathroom is
the beer garden and the food

breakfast,dinner, bedroom with 4 poster(room 12) great staff.
peaceful location in the hills. staff always friendly and helpful. good full breakfast.
service in the restaurant in the evening was really quite slow -- spoiled otherwise a good experience.
Location breathtaking! Room nice size and comfortable. Problem with our TV handled very well. Breakfast was good, and the hotel restaurant served excellent food, albeit a little pricey. I would recommend because it is dog friendly.
Some of the staff were good, but overall I didn't feel particularly welcome. I also got the impression they were a little understaffed. Tao on basin was loose and the water wasn't particularly hot.
Friendly staff. Fab breakfast. Great views.
Views comfort and easy laid back place the inn is.Beautiful setting and gardens
food and drink scenery garden relaxed atmosphere
see above dogs tiny en suite
The pub is great with excellent food and good ales.
The bedroom was very outdated with peeling wallpaper and chipped paint. Very poor TV reception meant only one channel available.
excellent location very helpful and friendly staff
Friendly staff, great beer garden, stunning views
Bedroom and bathroom could do with upgrading
Really enjoyed our stay
Location great. Beer garden lovely. Folk singers Phil and Jessica v good.
TV in room 2 is too small. Breakfast very slow and cold on 1 occasion. Wine by bottle expensive.
