The Mowbray celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2016 as a Guest House. A 12 bedroomed Edwardian House that was built by the Duke of Devonshire. It was a private house until the second World War when it was then taken over by Canadian Soldiers who were stationed in Eastbourne. After the War she was granted a Covenant by the Duke to become a private Guest House. Since then of course there have been a lot of changes. Until the 1990s there was in fact only one bathroom in the whole house! It used to in old money cost a shilling to have a bath in the old days! Now though all rooms have ensuite shower rooms. As they have been added over the years some of them can be small! Since 2008 we have been refurbishing and making improvements. We have far more to offer than many properties our size. One thing we hope you will like are the friendliness and personal touches of a guest house but the efficiency and freedom you would find in a large hotel.
The Mowbray takes special requests – add in the next step!
