The Mug House Inn  

The location was excellent, right on the river quay, with lovely walks along the river in both directions. A few steps from the historic town center with shops bars and resteraunts also a very good farm shop. The pub's resteraunt which if I remember correctly was called the Angry Chef, served a good selection of dishes including a set menu I had a steak and it was first class. The breakfast was also very good, a cold selection including fruit and yougurt served in small kilner jars my husband had the salmon and scrambled eggs which was also very good.The room was large and the bathroom very large with everything you could wish for a comfortable break. I would recommend this to anyone.

One thing I didn't like was of no fault of the pub. The pub being so old but I did need to park the car a little distants away, approx 100yds. It was not a great distance and the pub supplied us with a pass, which saved us paying for parking.

Friendly, comfortable, food delicious, close to town and river.

The location overlooking the river Severn, the olde world feel and the welcome were excellent. The evening food and wine in the restaurant was superb and the breakfast (included) was also good. The ground floor room in an adjacent house was relatively light and spacious with table and chairs: the beds were comfortable if a little soft. The bathroom was also quite large with facilities/accessibility for those physically challenged. The setting in this historic original Georgian town with surrounding countryside full of wonderful walks is truly wonderful; a slice of real rural England.

The check-in is quite late (3pm) and the breakfast equally late at the weekends (9am) for those travellers wishing to get off (but why would you wish to leave?). There was no bath and the shower head was badly in need of replacement. There is no parking but they do provide a badge that allows free parking in a nearby municipal lot.

Good value does-what-it-says-on-the-packet pub accom. Helpful and friendly staff. Riverside view from our room (tho it might be a bit noisy in warmer weather, with people spilling outside from the bar below). Generous supply of tea/coffee + fresh milk in our room. Good pub food. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the small breakfast buffet which included fresh fruit, light buttery croissants and pots Bonne Maman jam - far beyond the usual pub fare.

As mentioned in previous reviews, the parking procedure was a bit fiddly, though the distance on foot from the nearby car park was short.

We found the whole experience lovely right from the moment we arrived , we were greeted and shown our lovely beautiful room ( called the lavender room ) and made to feel instantly at home . we enjoyed a superb steak in the adjoining restaurant ( part of the complex ) and had a few drinks before a gentle stroll down by the rivers edge . The setting of the mug house is marvelous as our bedroom window looked across the river , and in the morning as we awoke we watched the rowers going down the river and could here the severn valley steam train going past on the opposite embankment . The breakfast was superb and set us up for a good hearty walk down through the town before setting off home .

The only small negative comment i could make and it is minor was that the small fridge in our room was noisey and kicked in about every hour or so .

A proper pub and restaurant with the little extra touches that shows some thought has been done. This is how it should be done, this is an old style pub and hotel right next to the River in Bewdley a great location. Given the opportunity I would stay here again.

The restaurant food was excellent and good value - breakfast was pretty good too. Excellent value for money.

The housekeeping in the bedroom could be improved.

Lovely setting and very friendly staff accomadation was quaint and comfortable.Breakfast very good. Would definitely return.

Excellant breakfast using good quality local produce, I rate most places on the quality or not of thier breakfasts, its an indicater of the standards that they are prepared to go to. Its easy to skimp on this area, as it can normally be the last time that they see you before you depart, get this right and I will go back again. The setting is wonderfull, the staff very helpfull, I shall return.

Parking

We found the Mug House Inn to be a charming place to stay with so much old fashion charm with many of its original features The room was clean and well presented with a very comfortable bed The staff were very polite and cheerful and the food was excelent add to this the location and the nearby Safari Park which was a lovely day trip. I would certainly reccomend this hotel to anyone and we hope to return in the New Year.

There was nothing to dislike about our stay except that it was to short and we wish we could have stayed much longer.

The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly and welcoming. The Mug House itself is quaint and quirky, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
