A 7-minute drive from Portsmouth Harbour Train Station, Ferry House Lodge offers high-quality accommodation and a fulsome breakfast menu.
Score from 526 reviews Very good
The Navigator is smartly decorated with a nautical flavour, great value with restaurant food which is a notch above the usual bar/restaurant fayre. The price for the food reflects the quality. The free wifi is fast & efficient. We were in one of the "Garden" rooms. It was smart & again, good value. Staff were helpful, polite & efficient.
A very minor negative is that the Garden rooms are not very sound proofed. If you're a light sleeper be aware.
Food is awesome
Ample parking, free wi-fi, comfortable room, warm welcome and pleasant surroundings.
Breakfast was good and frindly staff. Filter Coffee in room.
Room a bit cold but had heater on. Shower a bit old fashioned but plenty of hot water.
After an exhaustive travel vacation in the States over Christmas, the Navigator was the perfect landing pad to rest and revive. I remember the premises formerly as the Spinnaker, a favourite watering hole from my youth. We loved it's location nestled on the banks of the River Hamble and central to getting around the West.
Taking a room at the back recommended quietness from the busy road. But not from the 'acceptable living noises' of my neighbours in the room next door.
Lovely warm room, with good wifi, food at the bar was good, nice breakfast. Will go back.
Tastfully comfortable would recommend for a special event.
I choose this hotel for its proximity for the Ferry Port at Portsmouth ..for those interested in sailing and boating there is the Swanwick boat yard nearby. The staff were attentive and the evening meal was good ...will stay here in the future. The décor theme was good the hotel had a pleasant feeling.
Road noise at night time , bedrooms numbers 19 - 23 have problems
Rooms were very clean and nicely decorated though plain. Nice restaurant but not a cheap option to eat in the evening. (Didn't see lunch menu) However, really enjoyed the meal and the service was good. Reasonable continental breakfast included but English was additional and expensive.
I was encouraged to book a discounted delux room online. But the room definitely didn't seem delux. It was very small and the shower room/toilet was tiny with little space to put toiletries. The shower was weak though adiquit. However, the room was too hot even with radiator off, the pillows were uncomfortable and we were forced to sleep with the duvet off and the window open with the loud traffic noise. Neither of us slept well. The TV is the smallest I've ever seen and from the bed you needed binoculars.
Easy access to main routes, good friendly staff and excellent food and drinks in the bar. All very good for a 1 night stay.
The food was excellent
There was a noisy party very close to our room
Great location/Extremely clean
Not much pressure on the water for the shower
Location , food, room lovely staff and easy parking
Slightly noisey due to function room but to be fair stopped at twelve . Man in bar using expletives every other word needed a member of staff to politely admonish . Young couple on setee needed a room or bucket of water and all they had to drink was a glass of water so not prime customers ! Maybe a bit of staff training in these areas other wise perfect thank you
Large walk in shower - good control of temperature and flow. Log fires in lounge and bar area - nothing beats the aroma and crackle of burning almost dried wood. Room size and heating excellent. Staff friendly and efficient.
Food cost was exorbitant. Breakfast hours (7 till 9 am) do not suit tourists wanting a lie in.
Clean, smart, convenient
Rather small room and bed
Good location Very friendly and helful staff. Nice breakfast . Very comfortable bed .
The noise from the cleaners moving furniture around at 6 am waking me and my partner up. Plus the water pipes were very loud when some one in another room was running water.
The rooms were lovely, the pub and restaurant were excellent as was the choice and service, great location and free secure parking. The whole fel of the place was great attentive staff, very professional.
The deluxe room was small, with a small bathroom, small Tv, no chair to relax in, just a desk chair. the room had a double bed not kingsize as stated, when booked. It was very loud, even though it said it can be , the noise from the music and the staff rearranging the dinning room was excessive and went on till 1230am.
Excellent bar food and complimentary continental breakfast very welcome.
Small room and tiny bathroom.
Restaurant serves quality meals of an evening. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Avoid the rooms opposite the outside verandah as the noise carries.
Mould in the bathroom
The general comfort, cleanliness and frienliness of staff
Food rather expensive
Restaurant serves great food Large car park Clean
Cooked breakfast is extra Shower is on a timer!!
Breakfast Buffet was very good. Bed was clean and comfortable.
The room was a little noisy, both from bar below and other rooms, but I knew it was on a main road when booking, so I really suppose I can t complain too much.
