Score from 285 reviews Very good
Room clean apart from carpet, shower was good and bathroom was clean.
Had to pass loads of boxes and stuff in long and winding corridor quite an ordeal getting to room.Nobody about just after 9 next morning so just had to leave key and let ourselves out.
The room was comfortable and warm and clean
The stairs and landings were cluttered and there was no mirror in the room or bedside lamp. There was no staff about when we needed to go.
very good to get to ,friendly people made you very welcome exultant breakfast .
could do with mirror in bedroom only small one in bathroom difficult when getting ready to go out .
Described as a "Family run, real ale pub", but neither were apparent. This is pretty rough and seedy pub, and the rooms are overpriced (and don't include breakfast).
Greeting, very well done, Food, excellent offerings, Bar, Very good choice of drinks,
Bar area, Needs new colour scheme, A bit miserable, Passage ways, Upstairs, needed tidying up, too many things, especially near Fire door, T.V. blocking, or nearly. The dining room /kitchen door "spring" needs attention, Very noisy,
Lively pub with lots of locals. Excellent breakfast and really good owners very friendly
Wi Fi weak signal. I sometimes got Wi Fi on my phone but my wife never got it on her iPad anywhere
I had a very good nights sleep. Bathroom shower was lovely and big. The bed was comfy and the room was very quiet.
The first thing was having to walk into a bar with no other females present and stand and wait to ask for the key to my room. I think refurbishment was in progress due to all the items on the landing, there was a sideboard with various, tea, coffee, hairdrier placed on it but no information on whether it was there for visitors use or not. I was shown to my room by a pleasant young ladie, but just left to open the door and enter the room. No information on anything which was provided or who to go to incase of any concerns. Lock on the room door was no the best, it moved as you put the key in. The room was ok, tea and coffee was avialable but no kettle, i could have gone and asked for one but didnt fancy going back to the bar.. Restaurant closed on the day i stayed, and as their were no local shops i had to starve. Breakfast was nice but a silent, as there was only three people for breakfast, soft music would have made it better than appearing to sitting in a doctors surgery. No bin in the bathroom.
friendly staff, nice location, ideal to go in all directions, nice food in massive quantity. plenty of parking. breakfast was included in the price but if the landlords are reading this, please change the sausages as they were awful, ha ha.
the room we stayed in was quite outdated though we felt they were not expecting us, as the room wasn't ready and had clearly been used for storage, though they do seem to be modernising the place, the shower didn't work so we had to make do with a stripped wash which was awquard with children, but once the place is modernised a little it will be nice....
Not open until 4pm
nice pub, decent food, friendly staff, large car park.
pokey, cramped room, no mirror in room, wallpaper peeling off, all around the upper floor of pub boxes and other junk left lying around. cost £70 felt a little cheated. really needs decorating, TV 10FT from the floor, wires from digi box and tv dangling all over, looking so untidy, this was not a pleasurable experience staying in this room for any length of time.
The food was very good and good value. Real ale at £2.30 per pint was excellent. The bedding and towels were spotlessly clean. The staff were very nice.
When we arrived and were given the keys the room was not ready. There was a pile of old sheets next to the bed, the towels were piled in the shower cubicle, and the cleaner's bucket was in the middle of the room. We were given another room but the Yale lock would not lock the door properly. The cold tap in the bathroom basin was loose and just rotated round and round. The grouting in the bathroom was dirty and cracked, the mirror was broken, the volume on the old TV did not work, the toilet brush holder was broken, the shelf next to the basin was only just attached and fell off when we tried to use it, and the sash window in the bedroom would not stay open. The light switch next to the bed was broken. On the whole, it was not acceptable. We decided not to complain because we were very tired, having driven all day, so just had dinner, which was very good, and went to sleep. I would NOT recommend this "hotel" to anyone.
Breakfast was good
Bed was very uncomfortable and seat in bedroom was poor. Wifi only in Bar area
Staff were excellent- going over and above.
Building looked a bit shabby from outside
chaotic feel to the place and shower didn't work
Every expense spared.
Towel change every day. Friendly staff.
Carpet in en-suite smelt of urine. (should not have carpets in toilet areas). Room not hooverered daily. Exctractor fan not working in en-suite.
Although booked as a B&B there is a restaurant. The food is very good with excellent sized portions for those with the larger appetite. The room was basic but good with ensuite and no noise from the public area. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. There is no problem with parking.
My son and I have stayed here before and returned because it is a convenient place near to our friends. The staff are friendly, room comfortable and clean, breakfast good.
catches broken on 2 windows that made room hot as only skylight would open. Reported it, apparently damage unknown beforehand
