The location The quirky decor The food - superb The friendly landlord and staff The themed rooms
The only criticism is the steps in the bathroom - for older people, it felt a bit dangerous
No hot water for showers Loud music in bar downstairs until 2.20am
Wonderfully quirky theme in the bedroom . Outstanding Food and friendly and helpful staff not to mention reasonable beer price
Value for money, staff where friendly, room was clean and comfortable.
Dinning room dark
We stayed in the highland room. The space was very good. Bed very comfortable and very clean. Breakfast would keep you going all day loved it
The parking isn't very good but must say we were lucky getting there early was able to park inside the gate
Everybody was charming and it was fun to go from one dining area to another and in one was a cozy pizza oven to warm the cold November night. Had the sunday yummy roast beef and Yorkshire pudding Kate Reed, Montreal
Handy location, great tapas- best calamari ever. Beer garden with locals was the best night I have had in ages! All very friendly. Room was lovely- a light bulb or two out and a dodgy key but staff were just brilliant. Oh and an amazing breakfast to boot!
Being above a disco til the early hours of the morning.
Loved the themed rooms and breakfast. The quirkiness in decor of the different bars and seemingly endless nooks and crannies to explore.
friendly staff. Good good. Ideal family accommodation close to Longleat Safari.
It was unusual and quirky!!
The staff were excellent very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was was delicious.
Very limited parking so we had to park on the road outside the front of the accommodation and sometime during our stay some lovely person decided to scratch our hire car quite badly down one side:(
Parking was an issue as there isn't much room
we liked ever thing about the place staff were very nice and helpful
The rooms were clean and comfy, if you like themed rooms !! The barman was great BUT the rest of the pub is a continual building site with storage everywhere, most trading rooms were shut because of work, deep clean this pub.
No parking had to get up early to move the car. Grubby tables at breakfast, the pepper was stuck to the table, mis matched crockery and chipped. Wobbly tap and no power shower here !
Location is very central. Room was very nicely laid out and on a 'London' theme - other rooms have different themes. The building itself is a lovely old quirky mix of corridors, bars, restaurants etc. Room pretty quiet despite the bustling bar and restaurant downstairs. Staff were very friendly. The breakfast was very good, and other food, (especially the tapas dishes) were excellent as we also took lunch and dinner there once during our stay.
Room was a little dark, even when the sun was shining outside. Locking the door was a bit of a chore as the key was a bit temperamental (had been cut that day as previous guests had walked off with the original one!). Minor quibbles though.
The rooms are lovely, well decorated and themed, which I liked. The food was yummy, very nicely prepared and local. The pub is a traditional pub atmosphere and would not suit families with young children but non the less a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, polite and well mannered staff. The restaurant was nice and seperate from the pub although in the same building and you can see the chefs at work! Recommend this stay particularly close to Longleat where we visited, only 15 minutes away.
No wifi (unless there was but didn't ask) Will get a little noisy during busy periods in the pub but didn't bother us.
the rooms were very clean, the staff very friendly and not bad value
I find the room lighting too dim and the beds were too soft so sleep wise it was uncomfortable
The room was very comfortable & clean- staff made you feel v. welcome. We had an amazing evening meal in the restaurant & breakfast was lovely!
The noise from drinkers in the beer garden went on until v late, which made it difficult to sleep..Also the shower wasn't that powerful & ranged from freezing to scalding! Despite this, I would stay again!
No parking space despite reservation. No cot for 5mth old baby - took an hour for one to be located - one staff member unhelpful she just shrugged her shoulders when I asked where our baby was expected to sleep. Breakfast - choice good, but toast and bacon burnt. Poached eggs just tasted if vinegar - uneatable.
Big, comfortable room with mezzanine for children's beds ("Highland" room) Lovely location in old-ish building, on quiet street, pretty town reasonably close to Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath... Very friendly and helpful staff Beautiful church across the street, good italian restaurant also across Hotel restaurant is good too
A bit noisy at night with pubs and bars For the same reason a stinky beer smell at breakfast
Staff amazing, owner shared story of his very recent award Well designed themed rooms Meal delicious Great atmosphere Felt very welcome Small touches such as the jars of sweets, biscuits and variety of teas were lovely Outstanding breakfast!
Parking only really fits two cars - we were lucky to get one! Room doors seem a little thin so you can hear others outside the room
Quality of the staff. Very helpful and attentive when I approached with questions, arranged an early check in for us and helped track down person who had blocked our car in.
very dusty room, surfaces hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Very poor quality pillows and the shower lacked any sort of power.
It's a Pub with 4 rooms on the upper floor, not an hotel, no reception, very noisy.
We visited overnight with our 2 small children. We ate in the restaurant, very good value & great service, the kids loved it. The art work is very interesting. A very eclectic hotel.
