Score from 153 reviews Wonderful
Friendly atmosphere very welcoming. Good food and comfortable bed.
Pleasant dining room.
Room classed as 'small double' - it would have been small if it was a single room. No towels in the room. Bed side light didn't work. The WC cistern dripped noisily after flushing. The plumbing from other rooms was noisy. Adequate breakfast.
everything, especially staff
not pet friendly
Very friendly, polite staff. Lovely room which was very spacious. The room was cleaned to a high standard. Breakfast choice extensive, and piping hot!
Staff utterly superb, friendly, genuine and fun. Food excellent, both dinner and breakfast Beer beautiful Oh did I mention the staff, brilliant.
Room perhaps a little small, but its an old building so there you go
Friendly, attentive staff comfy room, lovely breakfast highly recommended.
Fantastic food in restaurant and breakfast
great staff warm welcome even when busy Nice food
The staff without exception were top class. Nothing was too much trouble.
The stairs were a problem for some of us oldies.
We booked a small double and then got upgraded to a superior double. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Ate in the restaurant and the food is lovely . All in all a good weekend .
At £95 a room it's slightly expensive. But the friendly staff make up for it.
The stag were brilliant
Street noise from patrons waiting for cab late sat nite
We loved the friendly personal service. They go out of their way to make you feel at home .. We had the best stay on our long European tour at the old bell inn
Not one thing...
Very comfortable and the staff were hard working and lovely
Disabled parking not fit for purpose. Make sure you don't have a room over front door. Stairs are very steep.
Room was to a good standard, clean with good facilities
I love this place, the food is excellent, the staff are great and everything is really good. cannot wait to go back.
nothing, all is great
all the staff so polite and went out of their way to make you feel welcome and wait on you. every single one of them. room like a show home bedroom.
car alarm going off all night, but not their fault. bar area tight, but again what can they do about that? and we go every other weekend as we liked it that much but slightly expensive for just a night away from home.
Will be revisiting this place but this time taking my wife as stayed here for local golf event. Great base and amazing local area.
Staying on my own and only for one night.
The friendly staff . Comfortable surroundings . The tasty breakfast .
Good service and food, ideal location for our needs, nice friendly helpful staff.
Rooms very good but also very expensive for location etc.
Proper old world feel, with a lovely modern menu. excellent room, with lots of little extras. staff were superb. And if you like Gin, they are just got the Guiness World record for amount of different Gins...
breakfast duration could be a little longer 0700-0900
Comfy bed Quiet room away from town/road side as requested Conservatory lounge and balcony for residents
Radio 2 at breakfast. Loathe Chris Evans.
Well appointed, spotlessly clean room, if a little small. First rate food both in the evening and at breakfast
Good sized room, comfy bed, lots of hot water, towels etc. Free Wi-Fi, good atmosphere, very good menu. Some staff very good, some not quite with it, particularly at breakfast. The Inn has interesting history, the decor is nice and if you are into gin it has over 200 different bottles. The bar, bistro has a nice ambiance and overall it is a pleasant pub.
It was very cold for an August night but the room heating could not be turned up or on. The evening meal wasn't bad but our fillet steaks were a very small 8oz. The starters were quite nice but very expensive for the tiny portions on your plate and £6 for pea soup! Upon booking in about 5 pm on the Saturday we were told breakfast would be served between 8-9 am. I just thought the girl was mistaken as I had read it was until 9.30, which is only reasonable for a Sunday morning and the 9.30 cut off was confirmed in the hotel information folder in our room, Wrong! Having been ignored at the entrance for a few minutes we 'took' a free table about 9.10 and the service was very slow. It took over 10 minutes to have our order taken and a further 15 for our breakfast to finally arrive. We felt as though we were being hurried to finish, so I asked who all these sudden arrivals were. I was informed, somewhat reluctantly, it was a passing coach party on the way to the races who were all booked in for breakfast, all 60 or 70 of them. So, this is why we were told breakfast was between 8-9 and why we were being hurried along. What a bloody cheek, coach parties obviously being a higher priority than mere guests. I must also add their plates of full English looked a lot more substantial and better presented than ours. Our bacon was dry and overcooked, the sausages under cooked, toast cold and rock hard and you weren't asked how you might like your eggs. Very impersonal almost disinterested, no one even asked if everything was OK. Clearly this Inn/canteen has confusing priorities, certainly in respect of guests anyway.
Bar staff excellent and very accommodating. Lent me a belt for my suit. Amazing gin experience.
A little pricey for a hotel and breakfast.
Great location for local wedding venue, very helpful, friendly staff..great gin selection!
