Comfortable bed. The inn itself has great character and decor. Location perfect. Staff friendly. The restaurant is also excellent.

Shower water pressure a little low, but shower is nice overall.

Relaxed atmosphere - Old Black Lion is a wonderful old period building- 13th Century! Friendly attentive staff, smashing manager. We enjoyed great food (had both evening meal and breakfast). Overall excellent value for money. I particularly liked the friendly teddy bears in the bedrooms- nice touch!! We will be back.... : )

17th Century sloping floors, low doorways and creaky corridors - really atmospheric. Food good as well.

The facilities were excellent and very unique. The food and restaurant were very good. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Our bedroom was certainly clean, but we thought rather small. I understand there are/were larger rooms but we were unaware of their existance. They may have been pre-booked however. The shower was not very efficient.

Quite a small inn/hotel, quaint with low beams & creaky floors; comfortable & well enough appointed. Nice bar, nice food, friendly staff, within easy walking distance of centre. Good car park.

Quite expensive for the small basic room and terrible old shower no bath. Water either cold or boiling hot.

you get what you see- this is not a modern slick hotel but we didn't want a modern slick hotel! Bridget is only 5'2" but l had to watch my head.

The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent!

There is not really anything that I did not like but I would suggest that breakfast should be served later on a Sunday.

Room was lovely very historic and furnished in keeping. Pub lovely atmosphere and high quality of food.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Building has plenty of character. Just a few minutes from Hay's bookshops. Good food and wine choices.

We liked the atmosphere of the bar and lounge and the location to the book shops

If you are tall you have to be very aware of the low doors and beams, some rooms could do with a bit more lighting

Location, car parking, atmosphere, convivial bar area, well kept beer and nice wine, good breakfasts, friendly staff, nice bedroom.

Shower room whilst being very clean could do with an update. Flaking paint on ceiling. The dinner that we had whilst being good, especially starters and desserts, wasn't exceptional. Portion of vegetables with the main was tiny, the smallest we've ever had anywhere in either the UK or abroad.

It had a room available at short notice.
