We had a lovely stay at the Old Church. Lesley and David gave us a friendly warm welcome and were very helpful during our stay for the Commonwealth Games. Lovely room and great breakfasts-we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. Louise - Stratford on Avon

Clean, comfortable, airy room with most requirements and adequate breakfast provided.

A long way to travel to get anywhere and we found the 1-2 hour commute to Glasgow tiring. On arrival we were disappointed to be first shown to the wrong room which had no en-suite facilities. We were then shown to the more spacious Cairn Table suite. In this room, the over-complicated shower and toilet seat need up-grading and repair. Also, the bed sheets and pillows were of poor quality. No blankets available to use in place of a very heavyweight winter duvet. We were not encouraged to relax in the shared areas of the house. We were not given a key to the front door for free access and only on street parking was available. The premium double rate we paid was excessive in view of the long travelling distance to the games.

Large room with great character windows and views. Interesting character property. Extras like movies, CDs & dressing gowns. Comfortable cosy bed and great sleep. Parking. Hospitable & interesting hosts.

Didn't get to try hosts homemade bread for breakfast. Not power shower and plastic toilet seat in ensuite.

on arrival we were greeted by the owner, although we were a bit early it wasnt a problem, the hotel was quiet so he upgraded our room free of charge, the room was huge and very well presented in all aspects, with tv dvd player and cd player complete with dvds etc,the breakfast in the morning was plentiful and very enjoyable,we will defo return to this hotel when we attend a family gathering in Muirkirk again, deserves more than the 4* it holds, would defo recommend

Leslie and Dave make you feel very welcome ... this is our second time there! Their restaurant recommendation (Sorn Inn in Sorn) for dinner hit the mark 110%. Considering Leslie's baking classes!

Nice welcome on arrival, with iced water and muffins. Room was bright & fresh with comfortable bed Robes, tv, dvd and films to relax with after dinner. Shared bathroom was bliss, Tub or Power Shower nice added touch with toiletries. Breakfast was amazing...Egg was work of art. David & Lesley were perfect hosts. Will hopefully get the chance to return.

Didn't get a chance to sample the spa bath...

Lovely building, but converted with style over convenience

Not en suite, poor ventilation/midges cramped room due to room being in the eaves. Plenty of space in the non locking communial bathroom. Over complex shower
