Stamford
This beautiful hotel overlooks St Clements Isle and Mounts Bay in South West Cornwall; most rooms at The Old Coastguard have spectacular sea views. The Old Coastguard Hotel is 3 miles from Penzance and 8 miles from Land’s End. Each room is bright and has a private bathroom, and 12 of the 14 rooms have fantastic views of the sea. There is a sub-tropical garden that leads to a rocky beach, while the local harbor has a small sandy beach ideal for children. Hotel Rooms: 14

We stayed in the premier plus room. It was wonderful beautiful sea views. The hotel staff were very warm and welcoming. Very attentive but not over the top. Our room was in fact a suite which was very spacious and extremely comfortable. A nice jacuzzi bath our own balcony. Only 5- 10 mins from Penzance and only 25 mins from st Ives. We would highly recommend this hotel. The restaurant overlooks the sea it has a lovely terrace and garden.

The breathtaking location. The staff were all very friendly and made it seem that they enjoyed working there. The dining room in particular looked tired and was often grubby at breakfast time with food on the floor presumably from the previous nights dinner. Our bathroom was very big but needed a re-fit. The shower was little more than a drip and the bath took over 9 minutes to run! This said we are aware that there is work scheduled and we can't wait to come back! The staff did tell us the hotel was closing in November for two weeks and again in January but didn't know what was happening. Perhaps it would be good to keep everyone up to date.

Hotel and rooms all clean and well kept, comfortable and good decor and I believe it is due for a revamp in the future.stunning view from our balcony.the grounds/garden are gorgeous and bottom of garden leads to pebble beach. Cooked breakfast took a long time to arrive and portions were child size, didnt think coffee was that great either.we had some fried bread with our breakfast which I can only describe as greasy concrete,do not eat if u value yr teeth.toasters did not work untill one of staff members were told and dealt with it.didnt sample any of their menu so cannot comment

The room had great views of the gardens and sea. Very nicely decorated with a good range of and coffee in the room. Ironing board and iron available, plus dvd player, however no dvd's to chose from. All in all the room was very good. Although the room was fantastic, I did feel the breakfast was a little cheap, for the price we paid for the night. The fresh fruit had seen better days, there was not much choice on the English Breakfast, however what was there was tastey. The bread had to be cut by hand, which you need to assume everyone's hands were clean. I would have expected gluten free choice too. I was not impressed with the menu for the evening meal and ended up in the local pub, Not enough sea food on the menu considering they are a stones through from Newlyn. I would not return to the hotel, as I was disappointed with the lack of knowledge of the rocks once you go out of the garden.

We loved the sense of belonging upon entry to the hotel the staff were extemely friendly and helpful but polite and courteous as well. The food was excellent it had the feel of a boutique hotel and im sure this will be eventually where it will sit once the renovations have been undertaken. The gardens are beautiful and the location is also fantastic. Overall we enjoyed our stay hugely and are looking into the gunards head as a possible next venture into the very well run eat drink sleep chain. Many thanks Nothing we didnt like as such. feel it could do with a revamp but you are already aware of that and the general style of the hotel is very much dependant onthe age of the building and the location i would have thought , therefore, may be difficult to do too much work ?

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room clean and very comfortable with sea views. Breakfasts were excellent. Dining room enjoys good views over the sea and garden. Bus service excellent. We would have spent more time in the bar if the prices were more reasonable, and would have had dinner there also.

Great location and views.Excellent terrace and views of the restaurant. Rooms were dated with wet room instead of shower or bath in the bathroom. Despite the positive feeling of being upgraded to a terrace room, the terrace had great views but no umbrella or comfortable chairs to sit on, and as the sun was hitting hard it resulted in the terrace not being used [ we did call and request for umbrella but none was available]. No mini-fridge in the room. On our last night, we were moved to a double room with sea views, but could not sleep for most of the night as there were hotel flags/metal ends outside the window that kept banging on the glass all night. Despite staying there on the weekend and paying a expensive rate in excess of 150GBP/night, the breakfast and checkout were very early on Sunday. Overall the price of the hotel was too high compared to the level of services offered and the level of "luxury" of the rooms. The same hotel at a 30-50% discount would have been great, but it was simply overpriced compared to the location it offered.

Internetverbinding was zeer matig.
