Location for our needs, and the price. Also it was one of the only locations with remaining availability when we needed it. It is a quaint oly building that has a certain amount of historical charm... Somewhat tired decoration throughout. It is a strange mismatch of styles even within a single room. Seemed to by reliant on only one staff member, who did work hard but was very over worked

The location was fine for what we needed as the event was taking place in the town centre. Our room was noisy. Bathroom small. The water cistern? Plumbing? Ran as if filling up all night so neither of us slept, very disappointing as the rest of our party had lovely rooms, one of which was the same price as ours. Breakfast very basic. No cereal selection just cornfalkes or anything as alternative to a full english breakfast. No jams or marmalade. No menu's, sugar, spoons on the table had to ask for everything. No milk jug for the tea, had to ask for butter for the toast. Would not recommed or stay here again.

Excellent location, good car-parking facilities. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, despite the pressure they were under. There are several public rooms so if one didn't want to watch the sport on tv (which we did!), one didn't have to. The bedroom was spacious, comfortable and elegant. The hotel had only been taken over by new management a couple of days before our stay and there were obvious teething troubles - but we have no doubt that these would resolved quickly, because of the new manager's positive attitude. It's a pity that the room's en-suite was just a shower and didn't include a bath.

'Very' new management (two days) were friendly, made us welcome and were helpful. The hotel is in a poor state and needs a massive investment to bring it back to anywhere near its former glory. The management team were obliging and were obviously working very hard but they have a mammoth task on their hands to get this property back on track. The bedrooms were very small and worn and were not as booked. One double and one twin were booked, two very small twins were provided. Refurbishments & redecorations are ongoing but there was no reduction in price to reflect this. Prices are high considering the condition of the hotel. Breakfast is OK but needs attention to detail

It was only by chance that we stayed at the Old Crown; Cheltenham Gold Cup week meant that hotels further west were all booked, but it was one of those happy chances that you sometimes get when travelling, The Old Crown's 500 years old, so it has things like wonky staircases, sloping floors and knocking plumbing, but these are all part of its charm. It also has clean comfortable rooms, a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food, and all at a very reasonable price, so you couldn't really ask for anything more. Looking at previous reviews, there seem to have been a few problems in the past caused by the refurbishment and unprofessional staff, but judging from our experience, these are now over. The refurbishment is complete, and Liam and Kim, who have recently taken over, were very capable and hospitable managers; the reviews from their previous hotel would indicate that they're just the people to make a success of the Old Crown.

Although they are in the last days of an extensive refurbishment that did not mean that we were not able to enjoy our stay. The breakfast was really good and we were made welcome and comfortable. For an old building we were amazed at how lovely and warm it was. It will be even better once the builders dust has gone for good.

We've booked a triple room, but get two double rooms. In one of the rooms was smoked (forbidden!) Breakfest was home cooked, but not completed because there were no fresh delivery's for three days, bad excuse from the owner. Menu for dinner was handout on a a4 not much choice (7 items), so we've go out for dinner in the neighbourhood. The inn is under construction and is very messy. Our experience is that there are better b & B's in the uk, one thing is sure we wont't return to The Old Crown Coaching Inn.

Good hospitality from staff. Good fire going in bar area. Room very small, advertise a picture of a twin room on this website but that's not what you get. Breakfast was tiny but adequate. Overall would go back but expectations would be lower

Pleasantly situated in the town centre. The staff were polite and friendly. The premise is currently undergoing a refurbishment so it is not at this time as comfortable as it might be.

The room was of a reasonable standard and clean. The hotel facilities were not as described in your ad on the net. The restaurant was closed for refurbishment. Breakfast had to be taken on Sunday in a cold, drafty, grubby bar area. Our bedroom was not serviced at all and we returned to an unmade bed, and no tea facilities. The Woman in 'charge' was offhand and not at all helpful.

The character of this hotel is superb and has great potential for the right management team. For short stays in the center of town this hotel represents good value Bed and Breakfast accommodation. The rooms are well decorated, warm, clean and full of character. While we were there a new management team had only just taken over (4 days) and they were only just carrying out a deep clean, so it would not be fair to make any criticisms. This Hotel has suffered with a string of different managers but I feel confident in the new couple who will soon start to put their own stamp on the place. They seem to have the experience and enthusiasm that this lovely old Coaching Inn deserves. But if you want a modern hotel where the floors are flat and don't creak and you don't have beams on the ceilings then there are other choices for double the money.

The room was very spacious and decorated well - very clean When we went the kitchen was being cleaned so there was no food being served on the Saturday which was a pity as the food menu looked very tempting.
