The location the food the real ale the staff were great very friendly locals and the views from the inn were great.
A quirky building with lots of character. Lovely views across the river. Breakfasts were great!
Dinner menu was somewhat limited. Bed not very comfortable until we put on extra layers of blankets and rugs.
Location is superb, with great views down the Estuary from the room window. staff were very helpful and the food was very good! Rooms were clean and Nice and warm. would recommend.
As a result of the position of the Hotel, parking can be an issue but not a major one. If in one of the older rooms on the second floor movement in the top rooms can be quite loud through the ceilings.
Bedroom (room 3) lovely room with great view and seating area in the bay window overlooking the river. Comfortable Lounge with river view Having supper in the friendly, cosy and atmospheric bar View from the Dining Room when having breakfast The Kippers! Best ever. Friendly staff Seeing (and hearing) the ferry going back and forward to Fowey Watching the large ships coming in to pick up china clay.
Room 3 has it's own separate bathroom down the corridor. Thought that this might be a problem, but it really wasn't. Can't think of anything that I didn't love about the Inn.
We were in no.3 room facing river and we could hear every foot step (creaking floor boards) when people moved around in the room directly above,it sounded like they were in our room!
We loved the Inn, it is very old and has such a great character but the rooms are very comfortable, clean and well furnished. We had a river view bedroom which was great. It was lovely to sit downstairs in the bar in the evening and the food was fantastic!
Nothing really. From the point of view of driving you might like to be aware that if you pass the Inn on your left and go up the hill, the car park is just a few metres up the hill on the right. I say this so you don't have to stop and ask where it is because the hill is steep and hill starts can be challenging!
New Years Eve dinner was excellent, very nicely presented ,well cooked and tasty. wonderful views of estuary from window even saw some fireworks in the distance.
Nothing to complain about Our two daybreak was well beyond my expectations
The people were very friendly and helpful. The location is good when the Bodinnick ferry is operating. The bar is a very friendly and inviting place that is shared with locals.
The fact that on New Years Eve there was no choice but to have the meal at £55 per head which had limited choice Parking is very limited Room was promoted as being en suite which the shower was but there was only a wash hand basin in the room.
Great location with stunning views. Quaint riverside pub with quirky rooms steeped in history. Warm comfy room with lovely towelling robes so we didnt mind the shower/ bathroom was just across the landing and exclusive for our use. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice & the pub grub was delicious. Staff all very welcoming & helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay out of season arriving on Boxing Day & plan to return in the summer months.
As this is an historic Inn the ceilings are low in the bedrooms but didnt bother me at all at just 5ft tall... maybe if you were 6ft or over ! Creaky floorboards in the room above but didnt spoil our stay or disturb us we loved the quaintness.
Homely relaxed atmosphere, great views, excellent food, comfort of bed.
Sharps Cornish Pilsner
Location, ambiance, food, Bar (great)
Separate bathroom (but it was good), stairs but we had help.
The food is excellent. The bar atmosphere is great. Breakfast is outstanding.
Lovely atmosphere and so convenient for ferry to zfowey.
Stairs steep and narrow so could be unsuitable for some.
Everything about my stay was lovely, the view from my window, the ferry trip to Fowey and the weather! The Hotel and staff were great. Thank you.
We thought the location was good and typically cornish. We enjoyed our stay and couldn't really fault our time there. Yes we would return but not in the room (with outside private "en-suite") but it was fine for a short (3day) stay.
The En-suite was outside the room which was somewhat inconvenient but OK for a short stay. Car parking is a problem. No criticism to the hotel but we found Cornwall-wide a problem with a basic lack of provision of "skimmed milk", but not sure why this is - some people are reaally unable to take full-cream.
the location, great old building, confort and great pub
the cooked breakfast was a little small
the very nice way the inn was run staff and .manager could not do enough for us
Excellent sea food
Bedroom was ready for a refurb
Cannot think of anything
Evening meal in restaurant and the views
The room was not the one in the photo on the booking.com website . It wasn't clean, bathroom really small. Our room was above the kitchen. The extractor fan was so loud and the floor vibrated when it was on. The fridges made a buzzing noise all night and kept us awake. The room smelled of stale food and grease No real facilities in the room which was also small . We were told there were no other rooms available . The car ferry stops at 8 and there was no way of getting g into fowey and back save a 30 minute drive. There is nothing but the hotel and a few houses on this side of the river . We didn't realise this hotel was not in fowey itself
We were very impressed with this hotel. Amazing location and stunning view from the dining room and terrace. A wonderful warm and friendly place, the staff were exceptional! Salsa, the sweetest dog in the world, was very nice :) Our room was clean and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent! The restaurant meals were absolutely first class! Overall it was a great experience. A very relaxing place and will certainly be back.
The location was as beautiful as we had hoped for. The ambience, food and staff were excellent, we only regret we couldn't stay longer.
Fantastic situation and view. Room very well appointed and meal excellent.
Staff could have been a little more welcoming on arrival, but this is only a very mild criticism
