We stayed the weekend with my partner and his parents to attend a wedding. It felt like having our own country house, cozy, familiar and really nice. The couple that run the B&B were away but the son and daughter were very nice and we had amazing stay.

I dont know how big the property is but it is in a very pleasant rural location not far from Shaftsbury. The room we had was comfortable and very clean and we had a great breakfast there. Although it is right next to a busy road we heard very little noise from there and had a very good nights sleep.

It felt like a home full of history!

Not having a shower, the bath is nice but you can't beat the shower for speed.

Great breakfast - delicious and generous.

No mobile signal: but that's not the responsibility of the B & B, but my network O2 (shame on you)!

LIke an oasis in the desert, this splendid ancient forge, with its warm and handsome old house, was indeed the right choice for two weary travellers such as us. Hosts Nick and Lucy are more than just welcoming; they set out to make their home a haven. Having experienced B&B all over Europe, I can heartily recommend 'The Old Forge' as my number one place to bide awhile. If, like me, you are a classic car buff, your bonus will be listening to Nick, expounding on his 'old cars and odd characters' life. Don't miss this place, it's well worth a detour.

It's been both our most favourite place to stay. The style and attention to detail in the rooms is wonderful. We've stayed in the Shepherds hut and the b&b room. Both were fantastic. Beautiful setting amongst hills. Horse and donkey in the paddock with hens running around the yard. Local produce delicious breakfast with apple juice from their orchard! The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Have stayed twice and will be back again. Can't recommend enough!

All the homemade produce for breakfast. No horrible little packets of butter and marmalade. Even fresh milk in a fridge for the rooms.

Badly torn rug outside bedroom a hazard! Also faint aroma of dogs in house.

Hosts very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Excellent breakfast using local products. Comfortable bed and good, real coffee was available in the room. The place was full of character and traditional features.

Nothing except it is near to the road and the traffic was occasionally noisy.

A wonderful place to stay. Our hosts were friendly, relaxed and very helpful with regard to a specific interest of ours relating to the area. For those interested in restorations and vintage car enthusiasts, a good place to visit. Our room was very comfortable with an abundance of hot water and the breakfasts were excellent.

There was nothing we didn't like.
