Plane noise but I do understand that if you stay next to an airport that's what you get
The bed and good breakfast
Wonderful welcome to us and our great dane dog Dog was given a nice foam bed, bscuits and was welcomed into the bar (and snug) while we ate, despite her size Room was clean and comfortable and in comparison to other places we place stayed near the airport, it was much much better - we will return!
Restaurant excellent. Pub for foodies... Not overpriced. Excellent breakfast choice. Cosy restaurant .
Rather thin walls with plenty of noise from neighbouring rooms
Nice comfy room, though not much in terms of sound proofing. Wifi worked well.
The only thing that wasn't over the moon about was breakfast
Bathroom is a big selling point
The bed, whilst looking inviting, was so soft it felt like you were being swallowed by the mattress Zero water pressure to the shower
Food was excellent, the rooms well presented and very large. Great bar and a good breakfast in the morning. Very good location for Gatwick.
Only problem we encountered was the unstable patio slabs, which my wife had a difficulty with, but it was evident that this was in the process of being addressed.
The location for me was amazing as my interest is aviation. My disabled wife found everything just perfect for her, also great care & attention was provided for our elderly dog. The food was incredible, with great imagination & flair .We hope to return later in the year.
Only 1 minor issue, whilst the room was very spacious & cosy I did find it a little dusty and there were a couple of cobwebs on ceiling. This didn't really detract from how fantastic the luxury room was and how nice this place was to stay at, but might have anticipated a higher standard of cleanliness for what was paid.
The building and surroundings are incredibly picturesque & very peaceful, tranquil and full of period charm & character. The vintage feel Pub/restaurant was excellent too serving reasonably priced gourmet food and surprisingly served UK distilled designer Gin & Vodka. My boyfriend & I tried the Vodka over ice and it went down very smoothly!
Breakfast was included, however no chef was available to cook breakfast so no one got breakfast. Only the cleaner there to take the FLAK.
No eggs at breakfast oh dear
All A one
Relaxed atmosphere, welcoming. Ideal accommodation as travelling with our dog.
Booked 2 rooms 1 double 1 twin, to be told on arrival didn't have twin rooms although that option was available when booked. One member of staff in restaurant was nothing other than rude. In the morning went for breakfast only to not be able to access pub as door locked, 2 members of staff inside just stood and looked at us, so we went back to our rooms
Noise from upstairs
Very modern but still with character
The staff were friendly, professional and nothing was to much trouble. Rooms were superb. Food was amazing. We travel a lot and without doubt The Old House is a cut above anything else locally. Seamless and faultless service . We will definately stay again
Whole trip was execellent
A beautiful place, lovely staff and food and the room was beautiful with a roll top bath in the bathroom too which was lovely. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Staff were very rude
Rooms were really good, the bed was comfortable and the shower was great.
Nice Place with pub and restaurant. Excellent food and friendly staff. Enjoyed the stay.
- nice rooms - lovely restaurant/pub with great food - staff very friendly - good location for going to or coming from Gatwick airport
breakfast service was very poor and disorganised. Noise from other rooms was very audible.
The room was clean and comfortable.
the pathway to the rooms needs to be cleared. but in fairness to the owners we did not point this out at the time and i have no doubt they will now look at the path
We were very pleased with the pub and accommodation as we did not want a 'commercial hotel' and needed to be near gatwick. Bed was extremely comfortable. room was a good size and very clean. Hubby enjoyed his cooked Breakfast and my eggs Benedict was delightful. Bar was cosy. we ate in the restaurant and the food was good. we would stay here again
Food & staff outstanding
Brilliant. We were mum and daughter. Looked after us before a long haul flight with nervous passenger. Very relaxing evening and dinner. Planes are overhead but did not bother us and stop overnight. Morning spent relaxing, great breakfast and stunning garden. So good I booked for another night before collecting Mum. Thank you
Room and bathroom were horribly dark. One small window in room no window in bathroom. Lighting inadequate. I appreciate it might be energy saving but it was useless. Must have been designed by a man as impossible to do make up anywhere in the dark corner that housed the mirror.A shower cap would have been useful. Dinner in the restaurant was not good. Steak OK. Burger average. Big chips not cooked in middle. Chocolate pudding over cooked. All seemed as though cooked from frozen. Breakfast average.
Good location near enough to Gatwick Airport. Good size room and big shower/wet room. Charming decor in pub. Very nice lady serving breakfast in the morning.
