In quiet area. Clean and comfortable. Food was excellent, both evening meal and breakfast.
Heating in room was difficult to operate.
When we arrived our room was cold as the heating had not been switched on, even though our booking was well in advance. Also when we returned after a trip out the following morning, approximately 2 hours the heating had been switched off, the room was cold again. We feel that the price paid should include heating.
Breakfast was great
location staff fantastic food very good
No onsite parking No meals available after 18:00 Sundays Weak Wi-fi Food OK but overpriced Stains on chair and bedroom carpet Water stains on bathroom wall
Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely room.
Excellent quality of room. Comfortable bed. Wonderful shower. Good quality food for the evening meal.
No check-in/out area. When we arrived it was just done over the bar. Despite being asked what time we wanted breakfast when we got up the next day NO-ONE was there apart from the chef. He informed us the waitress hadn't gotten up. She never did. So the chef made a basic breakfast and brought it out. Basic toast and mushrooms for my friend and NO GLUTEN FREE ANYTHING for me, so I was left with cornflakes. There was no orange juice or fruit at all. AWFUL VALUE FOR MONEY AND SERVICE. We chose this place as was close to the start of the race. As a result I had little energy to run the race. Check out - when we went to check out no-one was there. NO ONE. We then wrote down that we wanted to check out on a piece of card and that we would be back asap after race to pay. When we got back we were told what to pay (not given the bill until we asked for it). We then saw a £20 fee. When we asked to see the manager (same waitress who didn't get up) we were told this was for a late check out fee!!! Unbelievable. We were later told the staff had had a party and were thus hungover. Needless to say - bad value for money, bad service and we will not be staying again. A shame as it has potential.
friendly good brekkie clean brill shower
bed could have been slightly bigger
Breakfast included in price Friendly and welcoming staff Iron and ironing board provided upon request
Room was clean but needed to be painted as looked very grubby and had areas where the paint had come off Upon returning to my room on day 2, I found my room unlocked after the maid had been in. This was a huge concern as i had my iPad/laptop in my room and anyone could have walked up from the pub and into the hotel area. No mirror in the bedroom, only mirror was above the sink in the bathroom so unable to dry hair without moving the mirror.
En-suite with superb shower Cleanliness Friendly staff, very obliging Many breakfast choices Use of bar and lounge facilities Quiet environment. The hotel has been completely refurbished in the last two years by the owner, and everywhere is fresh looking and clean.
Had to park in the road No chairs in bedroom
comfortable, clean hotel with attentive staff
Non corporate feel and quietness of surroundings. Size of room was great.
Cleanliness. Good breakfast
Room was a std double - good size well appointed clean & tidy Staff really good and the breakfast was excellent would stay again if in the area
Nothing much - It would have been excellent and 5 star if they had'nt forgotten to order the taxi requested. Otherwise really good
Provided value for money accommodation, evening meal menu good and well cooked. Staff very pleasant. Would visit again if in the area.
Breakfast options not good no alternative to a fried breakfast Beds very noisy, limited parking.
Quiet, comfortable room, nice clean en-suite, good restaurant with excellent menu.
Good value for price. The food was better than expected, full English breakfast was excellent . Had a hood nights sleep.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Next time I'm visiting on business I shall stay for dinner as the menu looked delicious. I have family in the area so finding the Lodge was a bonus.
A good nights sleep A good breakfast
Awkward room up a narrow stairwell Restaurant smelt of stale food (to the point where I didn't want to eat there, despite the good food reviews)
The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was well presented, very tasty and fairly priced.
A very small thing - no bread/rolls served at dinner
arrived after 9pm, too late for restaurant
The food and the staff in the restaurant. The hotel decoration was in very good repair
We asked for a quiet room and were placed in a room overlooking the beer garden. On one day only the duvet was straightened and no other service was undertaken in the room so we had to ask for clean towels and the wet ones removed. The next day they forgot to put out bath towels. We booked a table for 7pm in the restaurant for all the nights we were there and then found out as we came for dinner on the Sunday that the kitchen closes at 6pm. Luckily there was a Chinese restaurant around the corner.
the staff, the room , the food
Breakfast was the saving grace for this hotel. They were very flexible with what you could have and the quality of the food was excellent. The location was excellent as a base for all local tourist attractions and staff were helpful with their local knowledge?
Car parking....almost non existent, had to park on road outside. Lift only goes to the 1st floor and stairs to 2nd floor are very tight. Room 11, very small, empty Evian water bottle left in drawer of bedside table (not checked when last guest vacated). Stool in room had rips to the top, only 1 bedside table, bed VERY hard, nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom (IKEA do the perfect tall bathroom cabinet for £25), mirror on wardrobe doors not a good fit and very annoying when opening doors, room very hot...no air con! Plaster coming away from wall in bathroom, no hot water on last morning. Mould around bottom of shower tray. This does not strike me as a hotel, more like a pub with rooms.
Absolutely fantastic setup in a small town by the sea.Traditional friendly English pub culture with great people, delicious food and attractive rooms. Would have liked to return but they were fully booked.
had to leave after three nights
