The space & elegance of hotel. The welcome & service provided by staff. The decor. The breakfast & dinner.
No toilet paper dispenser.
Lovely location. Grounds beautifully kept.Breakfast very nicely presented cold table along with cooked to order. Pm can sit outside to eat. Room very spacious.Staff helpful-bag carried to room (rare these days) & informative.
2nd night asked if did bar menu. Told yes but wasn't made clear that it was identical menu & price to restaurant but served in bar.(food very good but expensive). We were "upgraded" from room booked looking over garden to front.Lots of stairs to V large room with massive bathroom but over area for deliveries & waste collection hence early am noise.(otherwise hotel very peaceful)
The hotel was everything I would want it to be. The staff were very helpfull in that I did not have an evening meal as I was meeting a colleague. My request was a chinese restaurant and the staff found me an excellent one and obtained directions for me. Room was great as were the facilities. Breakfast was included and was good.
Historic lodge with lovely grounds.
Staff ( some) First meal in restaurant
The food on Tuesday night was very poor.Had to get extension for kettle and hairdrier to work, toilet seat droped of toilet roll holder droped of No hot water on arrival or next morning for husband going to work. Told to shower in another room but that was also cold water. All in all a very poor stay . Watch out when booking that you are actually in the hotel as they tried to shunt us of down the road in some cottage as it was raining this would not have been very convenient.Although when we conplained they suddenly had rooms in hotel available?
the warmth of all the staff, nothing was too much trouble. Great Lovely grounds, plenty outdoor seating.
The long walk to the room. Not too sure about the creaky floorboards. !!
Bags of character, short walk in to the town centre, really pleasant garden, very nice to sit outside on a sunny evening. Good food and excellent beer (Black Sheep) kept really well and at a good temperature, full marks for that point!. Plenty of parking and the receptionist/barperson was most helpful and can pull a decent pint. Worth the visit for the quality of the pint alone in my humble opinion (Exiled Yorkshireman)
My room was on the ground floor next to the kitchen fan or at least it sounded like it, though turned off by 10 ish, had to walk out of the hotel front door across kitchens to get to the access to my room. Could not lock the sash windows open, which on a hot sunny day was a bit worrying but at least Malton is not a hot bed of crime not by a long chalk. Shower room was large but they had only installed a standard size shower (not good for the larger persons elbows) and the water pressure was a bit weak which did not help either.
The hotel location staff and service were excellent
Rooms although in old biulding rooms need to be updated. ALSO WERE NOT AWARE THAT DOGS WERE ALLOWED TO STAY WOULD HAVE CANCELLED IF THIS WERE KNOWN EARLIER COME HOME WITH ABOUT 10 BITES AND ALSO CHAISE LONGUE IN ROOM SMELLED OF DOGS
Very convenient location - good access from A64 and to Castle Howard. Pleasant room and garden, good food. All staff very welcoming
The location; the attention to detail with the décor; the restaurant; the food, the bar, the staff, Room 19 had a massive bathroom; very quiet. Nice. Very safe for female business traveller
Nothing really though I was given a smaller room than last time (but double the bathroom size which was gorgeous)
Atmosphere. Staff were excellent
setting; building; gardens; staff; restaurant bar. I am going again next week so must be good!
In Room 4 which was gorgeous - but you could hear people in next room, ( and from bottom of stairs and occasionally those going up / down stairs. Pillows not to my taste but probably OK for anyone else
All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent, and the black pudding was fantastic.
how helpful everyone was when I left my purse behind
always prefer a later breakfast, on a sunday but not a real p[roblem
Location Building and Grounds Room size and decor Food Very quiet Plenty of car park space Great staff!
The rustic feel was great. Slept well, and the breakfast was good
No ironing board in room. Didn't pursue if there was one available or not.
The spacious rooms and the beautiful gardens.
Dinner service was a bit Fawlty Towers! No bread offered; no wine list shown.
This might just be the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The environment is stunning, with beautiful historic architecture set in huge grounds with wonderful mature trees. When you come through the gates, you feel you've entered another world. To take your drink from the bar out into the garden to watch the setting sun bring out the colour of the stone was utter perfection. I really felt privileged to have stayed here.
No complaints at all. The floor in our room was a bit creaky, which might have been annoying if you were underneath it - but we were on the top floor. I guess you accept a degree of this if you're going to stay in a historic building. A price well worth paying in this case.
My room was gorgeous, which was lovely. Great views over the fields. Really luxurious four poster bed and a roll top bath in the room as well. In the morning I had to get a train so the staff packed me a breakfast to take away. Really recommend anyone to stay here.
Fantastic staff, very comfortable bed and bedrooms very clean. Beautiful gardens, very happy stay
We loved every minute of our stay.
good location. lovely setting. Good breakfast. comfortable bed
No lift excess of cushions on the bed. They served no purpose and took up space in the room. I was not keen on the breakfast table between 3 doors and very gloomy.
Friendly staff and the pleasant location.
Cramped room with an uncomfortable bed, situated by the kitchen vent. My venison was tough and tasteless. it took two attempts to get a full measure of brandy after dinner, at the bar. (The bar tender was not present first time, it was poured by anothe rmember of staff)
Quality food and service. Polite helpful staff. Chocolate Easter eggs left outside bedroom door on Easter Sunday.
Stains on chaise longue in bedroom.
I was in room 8 and lovely the shutters, bed and free standing bath. Breakfast was also decent.
Room was hard to lock.
