The situation of the hotel The Food Comfortable Room Very Clean Superb View
Although the view down the river was beautiful, the rushing water was very noisy and disturbed sleep. Also room over the outside of the pub where people were sitting at tables. So you could hear them talking until late into the night/early hours
Great location for a pleasant stroll into Salisbury
Hittting my head off the low beams
Position, staff, food, scenery
Noise (see above) Floors creaked a lot and you could hear people above. No lift, stairs difficult for carrying heavy suitcases
What a location! Beautiful nearby walk across the watermeadows in the steps of the poet/priest George Herbert from his church in Bemerton to the cathedral. What a view from the breakfast table window! Friendly, smiling, well-informed staff. V good that we could check in at 1300 and leave at 1100. Attractive fresh flowers in the dining room entrance.
location, location, location Bar History of the place
room was a bit dated
It felt like being in the countryside, but you could walk to the centre of Salisbury in 10 minutes. The food in the restaurant was very good, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful
Historic building. Location by stream with ducks and swans. Nice walk on town path into Salisbury.
Insufficient and harried staff. Marginal cleaning standards inside and out. Tired furniture in room and questionable plumbing in bathroom. Price too high for value received.
A very characterful old hotel/pub on the river in perfect location for visiting enchanting Salisbury and the nearby sights (Stonehenge, Avebury, Stourhead). Just 15 minutes scenic walk to the centre of town featuring iconic views of the cathedral across the water-meadows. Room was quite spacious and the bed was comfortable. Very quiet at night. Plenty of good eateries in town.
The smell in the restaurant where we had breakfast (perhaps inevitable after its centuries of use as a mill).
Great setting, great ambiance, good location. Children had fun in the water.
Overpriced. One room was way too hot and we couln't cool it off. The other one next to it was fine.
Food was excellent for dinner and they catered well for gluten free. Staff were friendly. Building was packed with oak beams. My room was cool despite the hot weather. Location was really beautiful set down a footpath with just the sound of rushing water to send me to sleep. Crystal clear water that was popular with the local kids and dogs.
The bed was far too soft for a hotel with otherwise good facilities. The bath was a bit chipped and the room looked dated. But that didn't matter as the charm of the place outweighed the faults.
The location was perfect for us, about a 3/4 mile walk from the town of Salisbury which was very quaint. English countryside with lush greenery, sheep, ducks and songbirds, lovely! An excellent breakfast!
Only bad part was what you may find in Europe in General, smallish rooms and shower challenges, but far worth it for the setting!
The welcome was fantastic , very friendly and accommodating. We ate in the restaurant where the food was amazing. Would definately stay again lovely hosts and wonderful staff. Location simply stunning, gorgeous little find.
Could have done with better fan in room
I had great stay, with good food and ale.
Badly managed understaffed Grubby tatty accomodation
Poor state of decoration Mix of good staff and poor staff Not very clean public areas
Just loved every thing about this hotel. Food was wonderful in the restaurant.
The room /breakfast/the view
The food was excellent
The bed needed a new mattress and the bathroom window didn't open making the bathroom like a sauna.
position near to Salisbury. Relaxed meal in the bar, very good breakfast.
A bit awkward taking luggage upstairs
The situation, my crab tian, my cod in sea food broth, comfortable bed, the sound of the mill race at night. Pleasant hosts. Being able to walk into Salisbury through the water meadows. Prompt evening restaurant service.
waiting over an hour for breakfast on Sunday morning. There was only one girl serving and there were at least 21 others wanting breakfast. Our tea and coffee arrived at the end of the meal. My Greek yogurt never materialised.
Toilet difficult to flush in room 5
Lovely room, very friendly staff, beautiful location and exceptional Food for dinner and breakfast.
Even had yorkshire barman
The location is beautiful and only a short walk into the centre of Salisbury, across the water meadows. The food (both breakfast and dinner) was excellent.
The room, and particularly the bathroom, seemed a bit dated and in need of freshening up. The bed was a bit lumpy.
