The Old Mill  

The character of the building, the restaurant which was the mill and still had the water running below it.The location was excellent with a short walk across the water meadows into Salisbury. No passing traffic as there is only footpath access. Staff were very friendly and approachable. The food was first class.

Parking at peak time was difficult as the car park was very small. There is only stairs access to the rooms and older persons might find this difficult. Also the hotel is a short walk from the car park. This didn't affect us as we live on a busy road, but since this is an old mill there is the constant noise of rushing water - as you might expect.

Excellent cuisine and very friendly staff. Walk into Salisbury very pleasant and lots of other places to visit

Interior decoration rather tired,in need of redecoration.Bath/shower not user friendly if 6' tall or over.

Very picturesque and quiet

Location and parking. Breakfast was excellent. The receptionist who booked us in was very helpful as was the young barman and dining room waitress.

Room was cramped and the bathroom was cold. We were advied to eat in the bar as the dining room would be cold in the evening. Had to stoop in the shower to get under the shower head (at only 5' 9") and the extractor fan was extremely noisy. In the ladies toilet in the bar area the flush button was broken. All in All needs a bit of tlc

The Old Mill is a beautiful building with lots of character and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The bathroom needs updating and there was a problem with the shower. The room was on the top floor and the flow of water from the shower was so bad it was very difficult to take a shower.

An old water mill set in picturesque countryside, with a great view of Salisbury Cathedral, the Old Mill is ideal for those who like staff who make you feel at home, a snuggly 'inn' atmosphere and great food. The New Year celebrations were great fun - fantastic food, lots of laughs and even a bag piper! My sister and I were very well-looked after and had a very relaxing stay. Very good value for money and excellent breakfasts.

Annoying overhead bedside lamps which were just at the wrong level - we head butted them everytime we sat up in bed! Very minor point though and may have been because our beds were probably two parts of a double, so pushed outwards a bit.

Enjoyed the relaxed ambience and oldie world setting together with the excellent cousine.

The hands on approach of who assume are the owners. General helpfulness and friendliness. good car park and fantastic location.

Rather small and dated bedroom

It was quirky, very old but stylish with magnificent views of the water and mill. There was a new menu with excellent quality, which added to the enjoyment

Being a Pub there were loud revellers until very late

We have stayed previously at The Old Mill but didn't get the opportunity to experience the restaurant or visit Salisbury itself - this time we did and would definitely return staying on the DBB package. We found it a perfect place to relax and have some time away from "normal" routines.

My wife & I chose The Old Mill to celebrate our anniversary ~ we ate in the restaurant for the 1st evening, but were both a little disappointed with the service & standard of cuisine. Breakfast was much the same; mediocre service & my cooked breakfast contained an excess of cooking oil. Reception staff were quite friendly, but were unable to provide times for local buses ~ though they downloaded a timetable for me. The bed was not up to the standard of a 3 star hotel ~ quite "dippy".

The sound of the water running through the mill and the feel of the pub downstairs. I did think the bed was comfortable. The food in the pub was very good.

My room was very dirty. There were spiders and webs everywhere, to include dead spiders embedded in the curtains. The windows were filthy. There was hair in the bathtub and a ring of grime around the bathtub from lack of cleaning. It was clear that the cleaning staff just came in and made the bed; I ran out of toilet paper, was provided with no clean towels even when I indicated I wanted some over my 4-day stay and had to ask for more tea and biscuits for the room. THe light over the sink in the bathroom did not work and one of the two lamps in the room did not even have a lightbulb in it. The garden out back was littered with trash. It was very clear that the revenue is not going towards maintenance and upkeep of the premises. It is a shame because it could be such a lovely place to stay were the effort put in to it. As it is I would not go back or recommend to friends that they stay there.
