The Old Orleton has been sympathetically modernised into a chic boutique hotel right on the edge of the countryside. We had a lovely room and food and service were both excellent. The menu was a bit limited for anything other than a weekend stay and as no food was served on a Sunday night we had to go to another hotel for a bar meal which was not as good. We were a bit worried that not being far from the road our room might be noisy but this was not the case even though it was a warm night and we had the window open.

This was the third time I have stayed, the first time was on business the following two have been pleasure. The boutique chique styling is wonderful, the quality of fixtures/ fittings and decor impress all I know whom have been. The food is excellent without a stuffy atmosphere which makes it a relaxing enjoyable meal. The wines are good value so a dinner and overnight stay is suprisingly affordable for such a quality establishment. It is close enough for shopping in Telford or Shewsbury and is in an excellent possition for walking with the Wrekin a mile or so away. The stay was perfect as usual.

Room was lovely, all furnishings were top quality and the little extras like chocs & biscuits were a nice touch. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious and would be satisfy anyone. Our visit incorporated a birthday and our 36th wedding anniversary so we are seasoned travellers and this is a keeper. Would recommend anyone to stay there. We had a beautiful bath with a hand held shower but it would have been even nicer to have had a wall mounted shower over the bath as well. But this is a suggestion rather than a complaint. It would not stop us from returning.

The room was well furnished with two chairs, very comfortable beds and a good range of complimentary goodies, chocolates biscuits etc. a very modern bathroom. And ample space in both rooms. We were not allowed to peruse a menu over predinner drinks in the lounge. Menus only available once we had got a table. When we queried this, the owner stated the policy was due to pressure on tables from non resident diners. I still think a menu should have been available even if order taking was restricted to at table.

I arrived late shortly before 9.00pm after a long journey to a very friendly greeting and the news that I was still easily in time for dinner - very welcome news! The hotel furnishings are very imaginative, the hobson real ale excellent as was the white wine with the sole which was cooked to perfection. The bedroom was very nice with a good shower and breakast was also delicious.

The most striking point was the friendliness and flexibility of the staff to meet individual needs. Secondly was the ambience, and the friendly locals who were willing to engage in a bit of chat. If I had to base myself somewhere locally for more than a weekend I would put this establishment at the top. The en-suite within my room at the top of the stairs was a tad cramped, but manageable for the short duration of my stay.

The extremely relaxed and friendly attitude of all staff, we were made to feel very welcome. All of our meals were first class, good and varied choice, cooked and presented to perfection. The requirement to give a time when we wished to take our meals didn't cause any problems. There was nothing we could fault. Bit of a mix up with our bill, but easly resolved.

It had a very pleasant atmosphere, modern decor and extremely obliging and helpful staff and management. The first bedroom we were offered, a twin with shower, was small and dark. However we were given a much larger, airier and lighter room with Bath on request. The showering facilities in the bath were inadequate.
