Beautiful room. Location was perfect for sightseeing, shopping and eating out.
Great location and lovely historic building.
Room was really nice if a little tired, could do with a sympathetic makeover.
Location next to cathedral and steep hill. Fabulous suite in converted church.
Hard to find by car
The suite was fantastic in every way,Gothic, rustic, a dream.Would recommend this hotel.
Ideal location. Very spacious and comfortable room in the chapel. Fine breakfast.
Breakfast was hot and made to order. Restaurant staff for breakfast were friendly and welcoming.
Advertised as spacious room, this was not the case, a superior room at this location was standard size, bigger rooms at cheaper hotel chains, shower door did not close properly resulting in water over the floor. Pictures on this site are not a true representation to the room you will stay in, our room was definitely not as elegant or as spacious as depicted. King size bed = two singles pushed together with an uncomfortable ridge down the middle. All in all disappointing stay and not worth the expensive price tag.
Stunning scenery & impressive architecture nearby, welcoming staff, great food
Occasional minor noise disturbances, restaurant staff helpful but could improve knowledge of menu, wifi broken in breakfast room
Atmosphere,Period,History,Room,Decoration,Breakfast and the proximity of Cathedral and City
Bar room was closed for a function.
We liked everything about this place
There was nothing we didn't like
Wonderful staff who went out of there way to provide an excellent friendly service.
Thr reception area is a little tired and not very welcoming this coupled with a rather brusque attitude from the first receptionist we had dealings with gave a poor impression. Luckily the situation was saved by the rest of the staff who were lovely.
the convienience to the cathedral and other facilities
We did not realise we had to go outside to our bedroom and were not notified of the numerous stairs to breakfast and dining ng areas as well as to the outside chapel for our bedroom
A quirky hotel but full of character and next door to Lincoln’s magnificent cathedral. The hotel reminded me of upmarket ensuite Oxford University college accommodation. Wonderful views and excellent breakfasts probably make up for a rather quirky and hard to find location.
You need to like cathedral bells staying here - ringing out on the hour and half hour from 07.00 hrs until 23.00 hrs. Our double room had great views but was in need of refurbishment [e.g. tired wallpaper] – hence the reason why I guess it was described as a 'classic' room. Finding the hotel is a big issue, due the lack of signposting. The hotel says it’s addressing the issue, but waiting to hear back from English Heritage about what and where they can put the signposting. Parking is difficult as places are very limited and there is no obvious public car park close by.
My parents loved it, the room was lovely. The breakfast was scrummy.
The location of the hotel - it was very hard to locate via the satnav. The booking was for a treat for my parents. They text to say they were ten minutes away. TWO hours later they finally got there, they had to ask for help several times and it was a local couple that helped, but even they were stumped as there was no signage to assist. Indeed, the satnav said you have reached your destination. DD drove through arches ... To be met my concrete bollards. Therefore there should be some signs to help.
Central location. The building itself is a historic building that used to be the palace or residence of the bishop. Be sure to visit the garden and get to see valley scene, and enjoy the beautiful architecture of the palace itself
Weak wifi in our room on the top floor. Strong signal when I sat at a common area on our floor. While location is central, it did took me 20 minutes and 3 round trips around the cathedral to finally get there. No signage!!
Beautiful building, lovely dining room, good food, and generally good service. Very convenient for city centre. Parking outside. Good breakfast, and good value for money considering the location and the quality.
Staff were very pleasant on the whole but were short-handed and were running around trying to cope.. Two people hadn't turned up for work (and possibly didn't even know that they were required... Some issues simmering in the background there). One male staff-member (on the desk) was very offhand. Too much trouble even to look at you as you spoke. If it was my hotel, down the Job Centre for him, I'm afraid.
Easy access to and free parking in the centre of Lincoln. Comfortable room and good breakfast.
It was in a great location with a fantastic view of lincoln cathedral. It is a short walk of only 5 mins from the startbof bars, restaurants and the world renonwed steep hill.
The wifi was very poor. Hotel a bit tricky to get to if arriving by car. Only 2 little gripes please dont let this put you off.
Nice location D
Lovely building Good location next to cathedral Friendly staff Good breakfast
The bedrooms in the converted Church, the location for the Cathedral. The service was good ,they rearranged dinner times for a later than their normal to enable us to eat after our Daughter's Graduation .
The car park( very limited space for guests). The bed had not been changed and a used towel was in the bathroom( this was rapidly rectified and apologies made). The afternoon tea was disappointing, although the waitress was lovely. They seemed understaffed at breakfast and the checkout was very disorganized.
Lack of signage for vehicle traffic making it difficult to find in the dark.
Location. General ambiance and obliging staff.
It was raining!
We stayed in the converted church. Room was very comfortable.
Superb location such a beautiful old building you could almost see the history.
Only draw back was car park is very small.
Ideal located for visiting the city (if its found than)
Very difficult to find, had to ask how to get there at tourist information. No sign at the streets. Bad timing, due to graduation on university. Staff was friendly but a little stressed. No small dishes available; got informed, that all staff was needed for function and restaurant. Strange, as I think that happens every year, a hotel of that class should be able to plan also for non graduation guests. But I think, normally guests are getting served better.
