The location - near to the historic part of Lincoln but near enough to the city centre too. The room was large and pleasantly decorated and the fittings in the bathroom were new and of lovely quality.
It was obvious where it was located as we drove up to the area - signage would be helpful. The bed was very uncomfortable and there was a reoccurring loud banging noise throughout the evening and night - I think this was air in the heating system but it sounded like someone hammering the walls. Breakfast was average - no flavour in the mushrooms at all.
We liked every thing about it especially the suite room 24 and the manageress is wonderful nothing is ever too much
The location and view of the cathedral are stunning. The room was warm and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very tasty. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely go back and maybe try the gin and tonic afternoon tea!
Some of the paintwork and carpets look a bit tired but this is a minor complaint.
What a great place, great staff and a view of the cathedral, stunning. This place has free parking and they also offer breakfast in your room, which we really enjoyed. We liked it that much, we want to take our friends. Go on, book it, its worth it, she is worth it.
Location and room with a view of the Cathedral. Large comfortable lounge.
Piped music, though they did turn it off when I complained. It is a very nice hotel and doesn't require music like a supermarket
Liked the character of the building. The breakfast provided wide range for all tastes.
Room was very hot. Bed very hard causing back ache. Lounge not particularly welcoming, no warmth.
The location and surrounding area is stunning and the hotel itself is full of character and style. We had room 24 (the suite) which is in a separate annex from the main hotel so you do have to walk about 30 metres from the main building, but it was the most comfortable hotel room we have ever stayed in, with the huge stained glass window (electrically operated blinds) and the huge canopy bed with such a comfortable mattress. The original features in the room along with the modern comforts blend together perfectly and the bathroom is fantastic too. I would thoroughly recommend staying here and although it may be seen as a little expensive, it is worth every penny. The breakfast was excellent too.
Finding the actual car park was a bit of a nightmare, the postcode on the hotel website took us to a rear gated area that only had 2 spaces. Once I was able to get to reception (was let through a rear door) I was given the actual postcode to enter on a sat nav for car park (but no verbal advice). Once on the road there are no signs for the hotel and no visible signs of the car park. I had to ring and ask for directions. I would advise that accurate written directions for the car park are included with the booking or on their website. PLEASE NOTE - The positives far far outweigh any negatives and the search for the car park allowed us to see other old parts of that area of Lincoln.
every thing was good
Overworked Breakfast staff who simply could not cope. Poor Manager
staff wonderful, nothing too much trouble.. Amazing location
Beds uncomfortable. Shower dreadful
A bit chaotic at breakfast and would be nice to have a bar
Location, comfort, staff
Breakfast had to come quite a way from kitchen to table and therefore it had cooled down a lot. The church bells are a bit annoying every 15 minutes up till 10pm and start again at 7am
Overlooks the cathedral and castle walls. Staff could not be more helpful and friendly.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building and its location were second to none. It was very atmospheric.
The breakfast was disappointing. The range and choice of dishes was excellent but both our breakfasts were no more than luke warm. We didn't expect this from such a high quality hotel. They should do better than this!
Our stay at the old palace was great really nice, great room breakfast was good and you had a good choice, great location for the christmas market.
All staff were excellent., friendly efficient and polite Location to Cathedral a positive especially when Christmas Market is on. Excellent choice of food in Drawing room and breakfasts delicious. Very attentive service.
Our twin room was a little small but it was comfortable and clean. We were in the Lodge a building separate to hotel and we had to go down two flights of stairs. So if you have mobility problems best to check.
The room was lovely, the furnishings was amazing, it looked really nice
The bed was too hard for us, we found it impossible to have a shower, without the curtain sticking to you and the water went over the side. We are not big people by any means. The service was very slow when we wanted a drink, we waited for 15 minutes.
It took me 2 hours to find the place as the postcode that was given on the booking left me to the other side,so was very happy, did try calling the hotel as well a few times but no answer, when I did arrive at the hotel I said this to the person on receiption and I got the impression that she didn`t really care.hotel need up dating,
On first entering the bedroom the toilet facilities had a very strong odour as was a cassette toilette and obviously had not been flushed regularly. It was a bit uncomfortable on first entry but ok as we used the facility/
Liked the location, nice room.
Hotel didn't flow, breakfast room and dining room on different floors. Poor signage through out. No sign at entrance pointing way to reception. poor service at breakfast
The location, room, staff and city!
Breakfast was good...just slightly slow in being delivered. It could have been better-organised given the exceptional quality of everything else about the Hotel.
Amazing location and beatuiful building and views of cathedral
Bed was very hard and uncomfortable both myself and my partner woke up with bites, can only assume from the bed
Great for parking. Fab staff. So obliging.
Location. Parking. Breakfast
Cathedral bells are louder than an alarm clock! Not well sign posted and therefore not so easy to find. The property has the potential to be spectacular but just wasn't quite there.
