One of the best places I have stayed. Very friendly staff and a place with real character . The live music in the bar was great and I was made to feel welcome. I will definitely stay again.

From the moment I met the proprietor and her helpful staff I realised that I was in my 'comfort zone'. After that it just got better. The social atmosphere in the bar made you feel more like family than a guest. Well recommended. In truth there was nothing that I did not like.

Sea front location, convenience and ease of access Macerator was too loud and kept activating randomly during the night. Overall building looks tired

Very friendly and helpfull staff. Excellent sea view room. Good traditional English breakfast. Rather shabby appearance when approached from the road, but fine when approached from the Esplanade. No black pudding for breakfast!

The Old Ship is right at the seafront. We had a very large room with seaview. Going to bed and waking up with the sound of the waves and seagulls. From the outside, the Old Ship does not look very inviting. Needs some repainting. If we would not have prebooked, we would looked for another place. But the room was large and really ok for us.

Although from the front the Old Ship looked unkempt the main entrance at the back opposite the beach made up for it. We had booked for 2 nights and I was a little disappointed with our room as it was on the small side however the landlady offed us a bigger room for the second night. breakfast was lovely. The pub/hotel is tired but the character and staff made up for it. It is a charming find, natural surroundings and we loved it.
