Score from 65 reviews Superb
The quiet location, the ability to walk into the village for restaurants etc., and the attentiveness of the host. Also the quality of the breakfast.
Most things, nothing to dislike! Good size bed and decoration. Pleasant hosts and the traditional setting/property.
I liked everything about this B&B - easy parking, friendly and helpful host, lovely clean room with a great en suite but the best thing was the breakfasts! Can't recommend it enough.
We found The Old Vicarage B&B to be a very comfortable house to stay in. It was clean and appealing in a quiet village location. The breakfast was great and Bob was an attentive host. We were looking for a pleasant rest in country surrounds and this was ideal.
Lovely location in small Devon village, with a nice pub within 5 minutes walk and 5 minutes drive from the coast. Homely welcome. Freshly made cream tea on arrival was a real treat. We liked everything. Would recommend to others and will defiantly visit again.
Charming Hosts, Cream tea on arrival with homemade scones, Beautiful room, Good nights sleep, Village minutes away for evening meal, Good value breakfast.
In our opinion no bad points.
Comfortable bed, cafetiere in room, beautifully cooked breakfast, pretty garden.
The house & Location was excellent & a very Central location also Village very friendly
Bob is an old-fashioned host who puts the wishes of his guests to the top of the list. Ask (within reason) and it shall be received is his motto. A real treat is the black pudding at breakfast.
Avoid parking under the trees to avoid your car being "blessed" by the birds during the night.
Friendly host excellent breakfast
Although August it was a cold wet evening and being an older house we found it a little chilly as heating completely switched off
A lovely place to stay. A very welcome (and delicious) cream tea on arrival, a very friendly host, an excellent cooked breakfast and the comfiest bed ever!
Superb! Tea and scones on arrival helped to fill my 21-year old son's hollow legs as well as refresh us following a long journey. Bob, it turned out, was the father of one of my daughter's best friends from Uni, so we also enjoyed his company at the local restaurant that he recommended (also excellent). Very comfortable, spacious accommodation and delicious breakfast. Can't recommend highly enough!! Great stop-off for Cornwall, with the interesting local village and castle, walkable in minutes.
What a lovely place to stay, warm welcome from Bob and, although we were were a little late in arriving, he made us a fantastic cream tea, with scones just out of the oven. They have obviously worked very hard to bring the building up to scratch and the place is immaculate. The bed was super comfortable and we had a good night's sleep, waking up to a great breakfast. We would certainly stay here again and thoroughly recommend.
Liked the choice of breakfast. First time I have been offered smoked salmon and scrambled eggs at a b & b lovely
Super welcome from Bob! Helpful pre-travel email with directions and details. Clean, comfortable, well- equipped and roomy accommodation. We felt very much at home. Wonderful complimentary cream tea with home made (straight out of the oven) scones! Excellent full English breakfast. Helpful travel and restaurant advice. Can't recommend The Old Vicarage enough! Would definitely return. Thank you Bob!
This was a lovely place to stay - both the house and owners were very welcoming, and the location was perfect - two minutes walk to a great restaurant (Rodean), and a peaceful walk past the church and through the village to the surrounding countryside. The cream tea on arrival with freshly baked scones was a nice touch, and a great breakfast set us well on our way for the rest of our journey down to Cornwall (this is a perfect place to stop over if you want to break up the journey). Our bedroom was nicely decorated and very comfortable - we would definitely recommend this B&B.
Friendliness of owners, welcome tea of hot scones, very comfortable beds and pillows. Well appointed en-suite. Very good breakfast. Relaxing stay.
Nothing negative to say.
A friendly welcome, great room and breakfast.
Lovely room, friendly service and excellent breakfast. Perfect location for visiting Starcross and Dawlish.
Bob's homemade scones & a Devon cream tea welcome, cafeteire and real coffee in the room, perfect location, walking distance from restaurant and village pub... A B&B with style
Nothing not to like!
Our room was really nice and the service we received from Bob was excellent.
Very warm welcome, gorgeous cream tea. Beautiful and comfortable room. Can't wait to return.
The absolute ease with which our Host Bob made our stay a real pleasure. Nothing was to much for Bob travel tips, the Devon Cream Tea as a welcome was definitely not to be missed. Bob's business is a real passion that he enjoys. Cooked breakfasts put you on course for the day. Thank you for such a delightful stay. Rooms were bright airy and very clean, gardens were a pleasure to relax in.
Nothing can be done to perfection
Lovely cream tea on arrival. A very pleasant host and a superb breakfast.
Warm welcome from Bob and Jane. Excellent breakfast and high standard of bedroom and en suite bathroom in delightful updated old vicarage. Interesting village church. Good location for wedding reception in Powderham Castle.
Slightly difficult to find on a one way street. Having to miss offer of complimentary afternoon cream tea! Reversing out of parking spot.
