This was a very nice B&B to stay at - located in a quiet and serene setting. It had a long driveway in, with a very pretty garden. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They booked us in for dinner at a cracking restaurant nearby. Breakfast was very nice, overlooking the garden.
Beautiful grounds, an idyllic setting. Just off the main road so very quiet but still close to the other nearby activities.
I loved the house, the shower, the bed, the breakfast, the friendly owners...in fact everything :)
The house and grounds itself were beautiful. The rooms were spotless and the bed comfortable. It was located close to a reservoir and large open areas ideal for walking/biking. Also there are lots of nice pubs nearby, highly recommend abercraf inn as it does fantastic food at good prices.
Website states that payment is accepted by card - however we were told after 1 day that they only accept cash payments. Didn't like being seated on one large table with other guests for breakfast. Would prefer to have had a table for two instead where it wouldn't be awkward. The room was cold and we asked for the central heating to be turned on so we could use the radiator to be given the response 'it's the middle of August and to use a small oil heater in room'
Music in the bionic shower. Full English cooked breakfast. Comfortable bed, slept through whole night. The views from every window and River Tawe in front garden. Kind friendly hosts.
My wife, I and two friends stayed here overnight for a wedding at Craig y nos castle the rooms were very clean, the gardens are stunning and the breakfast in the morning was excellent. I can not eat hens eggs but the landlord got some duck eggs in so I could have breakfast like everyone else. We were greeted and made feel right at home would have no hesitation going back and would highly recommend this lovely b&b
Really large room, loads of space and very welcoming couple. I'm back soon and will not hesitate to book again
location, service, friendliness
The owners were very welcoming and made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The room was super with lovely views and a very comfortable bed. The cooked breakfasts were great and well presented. We would recommend this B&B to our friends.
No complaints though the wash basin in the room was a bit small and shower rather tight.
Very nice garden friendly people
ensuite a bit small Pricey
Very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for us. The views are spectacular in any direction.
We liked every aspect of this accommodation - location - room - views - owners - facilities - and particularly the breakfast. Would recommend to anyone intending to visit the Brecon Becons to make a beeline for this fine star B & B.
There was nothing not to like with this property.
The gardens are very attractive and the breakfast was also good when owners friendly. We were offered some tea on arrival but then shown tea and coffee making facilities in our room. Bedding attractive and bed fairly comfortable.
Directions were poor in detail and incorrect which delayed our arrival by over half an hour. Reception poor - shown our room but not shown if there is a sitting room nor where breakfast would be served. Be aware that there is no handrail on the stair so serious risk of falling over the edge. Room quite small (4m x 4m) and ensuite bathroom with shower only and wc at least half as big as the room. Very fancy shower; shame hostes was not sure how to make it work. Bathroom cold and despite opening up valves on radiator …radiator remained cold. Shower a rainfall shower but no shower cap. Shower temperature uncontrollable despite supposed electronic control and dangerously hot!. No heating / warm towel rail in bathroom so towels still wet in the morning. No shaving mirror above sink and no electric shaver point anywhere. Only one pillow each. No shoe cleaning materials. No iron. No trouser press. This establishment claims 5 stars and is described as a hotel yet no dressing gowns – so bring your own or run out naked from a fire. We made clear when we booked that we would need to eat but The Old Vicarage strictly B&B so directed to local hostelries to try our luck for supper. Had we been told that we might struggle to get supper in local hostelries without at least an hours' wait we would have made other arrangements. Would be helpful if The Old Vicarage offered to book a table for customers at local restaurant. Booking.com claims that card payment works. Host said that it did until he retired last year but no longer available. Cash is acceptable but the nearest cash machine is a 24 hr supermarket 15 miles away. Owner said there is Internet in The Old Vicarage but there was no offer of making it available. The curtains at the bedroom window are barely wide enough to cover the window and, as one fitting was missing, the left hand curtain hung free at its left hand edge. There is no wardrobe – just four hooks to hang clothes on plus a chest of drawers.
The showers were poor quality, there were 2 showers in different rooms and our friends were in the neighbouring room and if you use shower from one room then the shower from other room would stop working. We had lot of inconvenience because of this as we had to wait for the other shower to be free to continue taking a bath
Friendly welcome with a pot of tea by the river. Bedroom was clean and bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. The views idyllic whichever way you looked and with a river at the bottom of the garden. Perfect location for a perfect break
I didn't like the fact that there was nothing to dislike !!!
This place is set in beautiful surroundings with fantastic staff. fabulous rooms and the best night sleep in years thank you
It was the perfect location for us as we were looking to hike and enjoy the nature. The owners had good recommendations for a walk and restaurant nearby. Cooked breakfast was really good too.
Very welcoming hosts, gave us a lift to the function we were attending. Also one of us is allergic to feather/down pillows/duvets and they immediately sorted out an alternative. Very nice breakfast, good tomatoes and home made bread.
Everything was perfect. It was a lovely, quiet place. Food was exceptional and our hosts were very welcoming. We loved it and would stay there again.
It was a real pleasure to stay at the Old Vicarage and I was made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was simply superb. On warm sunny mornings the breakfast is served in the garden and you could not wish for a more ideal setting to enjoy good food.
