Excellent small family run Inn with very friendly staff. The food and drink were excellent.
Comfortable billet. Good evening meal. Enjoyed Rosslyn Chapel which requires another visit.
The pokey room, small bed, dirt behind the bed, mould in shower, thermostat not working, window not opening .price charged outrageous dropdown at heel hotel. Will be taking up four star award with the AA !
We were very well looked after by management and staff - and the food was great! We did not want to leave.
The beds were hard as rocks.
evening meal food was good and good portions served in the comfortable bar area.. breakfast was a fairly good variety but served in a coldish conservatory .
bedrooms a little on the small side(but realise it is an older property) need tweaking to update to a good standard. Didn't realised it was a 'dog friendly hotel' and saw many dog hairs on the stairs during our stay. too many cushions on the bed and didn't know where to put them -so put them on the top of the wardrobe!!
We liked the ideal location for visiting Rosslyn Chapel and Castle and the proximity to Edinburgh for the remainder of our trip. Our room was comfortable and clean. The restaurant is excellent with great staff and our meals were superb. All good value for money which made our visit very enjoyable.
Nothing it suited our overnight visit.
all the people in the bar were brill [great] the staff were great =+ very friendly the rooms very clean had great night;s sleep And the food was great well worth a visit
I LIKED THE LOT
Room clean enough -- sheets clean, half-bedspread thing dirty. Old-fashioned place, good breakfast. Tea in room. Room better (cleaner, more freshly decorated) than public areas. In room, silly huge draperies that made it difficult to shut bathroom door. A sense of barely making ends meet.
Run-down hallways, horrible mattress, staff not friendly. Impossible not to be covered w the cold soaking shower curtain while you're showering --a curved shower curtain would fix this. Very high price for mediocre room.
Hotel is situated in a lovely location near Rosslyn Chapel which is definitely worth visiting if you haven't been. Also very close to Edinburgh. Friendly Staff, good food and vino! Roddy & Heather
The staff were friendly and helpful with a good location to match.
The room wasn't particularly nice, smelt of oil and grease with a highly uncomfortable bed. The decor needs quick updating to feel fresh and new rather than old and used. I personally would recommend, it rather united our trip. We didn't stay for breakfast, many others did the same.
Expensive. On saturday breakfast did not start until after 9.00am
After exhaustive days at the Edinburgh Festival what a joy to come back to the Hotel and relax, eat, drink and sleep.
Not finishing all the Scotland the Brave Breakfast
Ease of Location. Staff were very pleasent considering I am English.
Bathroom could of done with a better clean.
The entire staff was warm and friendly. The room was small, but comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The food for breakfast was plentiful and good. The lounge was comfortable and relaxing. The food for dinner was very good. Rosslyn Chapel was within walking distance and Edinburgh was close enough for a short bus ride or taxi.
Actually, no complaints.
Stayed overnight and was very impressed. Room was clean and very comfortable, hotel staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was again excellent, all in all would definitely recommend this hotel
breakfast was good, but a little too early finish, beds were comfy.
hairdryer provide but no mirror at all in room, wardrobe held bag of old curtains, food was not good.asked for some bread and it was brought to me without a plate, yes thats right,no plate ,2 slices of shop bought bread held in the waiters hand and then just placed on the table in front of me.All seemed to be a bit faulty towers, hotel was advertised as full, we were the only guests for two nights.
Quite village location within easy walking distance of the chapel and 20 minute drive to Edinburgh. Food was good too.
Room was very warm and dated. I didn't feel the room was value for money. I handed in dirty cutlery when about to start my evening meal only to be given an apology along with more dirty cutlery from the owner. His manner was awful and a polar opposite of the people he had working for him. A very poor example as a host.
Excellent accommodation, friendly room staff, good breakfast.
Reception nearly always unmanned, and couldn't see a contact bell. Breakfast service usually very slow and self-service items not replenished regularly as no-one keeping an eye on the table.
Staff helpful and friendly
Hotel a bit run down
Room very clean and comforatble. Food excellent.
Excellent friendly staff who made you feel welcome and made lots of effort to ensure we had everything we needed. Great choice of breakfast and everything fresh and cooked to order.
we liked the food the staff the friendliness of every one around, enjoyed rosslyn chapel and some nice walks.
paid to have a bath got a shower.
The food in the restaurant bar was excellent value for money and tasted great. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Staff service was excellent. Food was really good. Interesting history
No wifi in room. This sounds petty as there was free wifi in public rooms downstairs. Hotel was busy in public rooms as there was a wedding on and also the World Cup
