Well presented high quality food. Efficient staff. Minimum fuss.
Lighting in room a bit dim. Towel rail not working. Parking limited.
The OX has a great atmosphere, and a very nice style. The room was a decent size and well appointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was top notch. Nice shower.
The only thing that I was not to keen on was the no door on the bathroom, it is a clever use of space, but sound travels.
The location is great staff were generally very pleasant
Too expensive - the rooms are nice but not worth the £100 price tag , parts of it are very tired , ripped lamp shades , dull lighting Very disappointed that we we weren't made aware there was a live band playing directly below our room. Granted it was New Years eve so have no issue with that but having to take a long flight the next day out of courtesy we should have been made aware we would have made alternative arrangements. When raised with management he did discount the room but was very blazey and not particularily understanding .
The staff were friendly and the ensuite looked as if it was brand new and well appointed with lots of immediate hot water from a powerful shower. The mattresses were very comfortable (I hate hard mattresses) The linen was crisp and clean. There was tea and coffee making facilities available. The breakfast we had tasted good.
Only car parking for four cars but there is a car park very close by. It was the chefs first day and the waitor was very tired after New Years Eve - to be honest, breakfast was a complete shambles and all three tables did not get what they ordered, but it was his first day and I am sure they were teething problems, plus we did not have to say anything, they did not charge us for the breakfast and apologised. Our particular room was quite small and basically furnished and the window very drafty but I wasn't cold. My main concern is that I felt £100 for this twin room excluding breakfast was very pricey. It might be that other rooms were better, I don't know, but it was a room over a pub and I did not feel it was good value, however, it was New Years Eve so maybe it is less expensive on other nights, I don't know. We arrived approx. 5pm and the restaurant was empty, we said we were hungry but they said they were fully booked, I would have thought they could have mustered up a sandwich or something as we were guests, especially as many of the tables were not booked for another 3 hours. It was fine for us but there is no lift so not good for anyone unable to negotiate stairs.
Modern, comfortable rooms. Just a short stroll from Parkstone Railway Station. Excellent restaurant. Friendly staff
The main-street facing rooms are a bit noisy because of traffic
Good food in the restaurant Good shower in the room
Air conditioning unit outside window that ran throughout the night
Staff were very attentive.
1 thin pillow on the bed. The bed was hard and we had trouble sleeping well.
I ordered a bottle of wine at dinner the waiter brought it to the table plonked it down and disappeared instead of pouring and letting us taste it however it was very nice
bath was big
car park was closed
No car park!!
Staff were friendly and helpful
No parking available
Friendly staff, comfortable room
Lots of stairs and busy road outside
The downstairs bar and restaurant area is very nice. Pleasant staff. Clean and tidy. Good size room.
Quite expensive for what it was. £90 for the room without breakfast was quite steep in my opinion, though anything slightly less in the area is a much poorer standard of accommodation compared to the Ox in fairness. No parking at £90 a room, again is probably asking a lot.
Excellent service staff were outstanding.
Quite expensive however would still go back without hesitation.
The bathroom. The shower had no curtain, and the toilet was so close to the bath I could not sit on it
Hotel facilities, lounge and bar were very great and the atmosphere was good. Staff brilliant and accommodating for requests. Room was very well presented, very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Restaurant service good and pretty quick.
Few minor points..(1) Like a lot of hotels, the main lights do not have enough power so needed to put bed side lights on in the evening. (2) No air conditioning so was a little warm (on a hot evening). (3) Some rooms adjacent to busy road so a bit noisy but didn't keep me a wake.
Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely room and delicious food. All at an excellent price.
The only small complaint would be the road noise in our room, due to single glazed windows.
Lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Brilliant breakfast and really nicely decorated and spacious room. Thank you for having us!
Clean, modern rooms.
Smallish rooms compared to photos, not ready for check in, smelled of smoke in the corridor
Cute boutique room, very large comfy bed! Great en suite and shower!! Close location
Small room, lack of parking, quite noisey, breakfast not included
A bit far from BIC
Trendy bar and restaurant that served delicious food. No need to eat anywhere else. Good service and would stay again
Lovely place, great food, brill location
No Parking, so had to park a little bit away. Bedroom on main road, so traffic noise was a little high
Ease of check-in, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, room decor, bathroom, restaurant/bar
Two single beds when double requested, road noise.
Russell makes you feel as though you are a guest in his home. Nothing is too much trouble from getting the poached eggs right to remembering my favourite room and storing a picnic for the following day in the fridge. Will definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone visiting Poole.
