The owners were very friendly, room was very clean and very comfortable, and food was delicious. The pub inside was very cosy and relaxing. We went on an amazing walk nearby, setting off from the hotel.
The water wasn't very hot for the bath.
We had a fantastic stay and couldn't have asked for friendlier, or more helpful staff. The food was amazing, both in presentation and taste. We look forward to returning and stayin longer. Many thanks to you all .
The place the people the food
stayed here for one night. had a very warm welcome from the owners ...decided to go on lil walk when we came back went for food that was really nice. but the service from john and callum was top notch couldn't have asked for anything better would stay again
Amazing place and excellent food and service. Definitely will be coming back.
Should have stayed longer and didn't want to leave
The evening meal was outstanding, the owners were extremely friendly and personable and the four poster bed was the best bed I've ever slept in. Total bliss!
We love the rooms with super-comfortable beds. The food is wonderful. Warm, cosy bar; friendly, efficient staff and wonderful location for walks.
The owners and staff were a delight and helped out with advice on touring the local area. Dinner and breakfast at The Oxenham Arms was excellent. We have already recommended this place to our friends.
Fantastic location. Beautiful property
It wasn't terrible but the check in was perfunctory. It is a fine line between intruding on guests and not explaining the basics of the hotel eg breakfast times etc especially as there was no hotel guide in the room
lovely walks nearby, massive comfortable four poster bed, food was top quality, friendly staff and beautiful building in a quaint little village. Excellent value for money would definitely go there again.
The room and the hot water could have been hotter in the afternoon. Wallpaper looked a bit like lining paper.
The comfy bed Wine selection
The roaming cats Noisy water system, pipework in bathroom
Beautiful room. Lovely village. Lovely staff. Great stay...
Lovely atmospheric Inn steeped in history with a very welcoming staff. The food was delicious and the 4 poster bed a lovely extravagance! Only stayed one night unfortunately - would love to spend a whole weekend tucked away in this gem of a place.
What a wonderful old Inn. Friendly staff, wonderful log fire, good food and comfortable four poster bed. Don't miss this this place. We will return to this Quirky old Inn soon.
The twin room was cold because of the granite wall this time of year. The water pressure in the bathroom not very good.
Thank you to Simon, Lyn, and all the staff at The Oxenham Arms for a fantastic stay. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful (including Ian the biker who we met in the bar!), and because we stayed at a more quiet time of year we had the whole place to ourselves, which was wonderful. Great food and service, and the most amazing bed we've ever slept in. So much history in this beautiful building, and I am hugely proud of my certificate awarded to me by Simon for touching the South Zeal Menhir Standing Stone (1000 years older than Stonehenge!) which is in the snug bar. We'd recommend the Ox to anyone who wants a thoroughly unique break.
The comfort of the bedrooms. The bed was superb and the bed linen was lovely. Food in the bar was very good. The staff and owners were all exceptional
Having to leave
The staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We loved the location as we were able to hop onto the main roads not too far away and explore more of Dartmoor. The hotel is located in a quiet village which is very sweet and restful.
No hesitation in giving top marks to the Oxenham Arms. We stayed in the Chagford room with four-poster bed, very nice. The public rooms are full of charm and historical interest. We had an evening meal of high quality. The owners are knowledgeable and attentive. We hope to go back one day.
All of it!
Nothing at all!
Lovely old building. Very clean and fresh-smelling. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Excellent food - bar and restaurant
Nothing - except poor/ changeable wi-fi connections!
staff and owners were superb
breakfast lovely supper a little boring. I was told the regular chef was away
very helpful and friendly staff. Good restaurant for evening meals. Attractive, historic property.
Shower and supply of hot water weren't very good. Very little in the way of soap, shower gel, milk in the room albeit staff responded to any request very quickly. Room was quite cold - towel rail didn't work and shower room very cold
Food....evening meal excellent. Breakfast....freshly cooked and good quality. Real ales in good condition and a wide range of reasonably priced wines on offer. Rooms are luxurious, clean and romantic. All members of staff are exceedingly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The Ox has been lovingly and thoughtfully restored by the owners with obvious attention to finite detail.....an absolute all round gem!
There is nothing to dislike about this fine establishment.
Blend of a historic inn with modern updates. Food also excellent.
Breakfast quality nowhere near that of evening food
