It's wonderful scenic location.

Very very dated. Certainly needs to be refurbished. The shower in the bathroom was awfully inadequate.

I loved the opulent atmosphere and high quality attention to detail especially in the restaurant. I loved the gardens , the swimming pool the friendliness and exceptional efficiency of the porters who in my experience went out of the way to take care of my comfort and sleep !! When I was disturbed by a wedding party disco . The night porter very kindly allowed me to use a different room in order that I might get a good nights sleep and not disturb or be disturbed by the celebrations that were going on within the wedding party evening disco. The food was exceptional and service in the restaurant smooth unobtrusive and efficient.

Nothing in particular. I think the reception staff may have been a bit more available and friendly. When I managed to attract their attention they were efficient and helpful. In the restaurant the `chiefs of staff were , in my opinion, a little over efficient giving an air of standoffishness and snobbery.

The hotel it's self was beautiful,lovely for weddings.breakfast was the best thing there.

The room I stayed was very dated,and old fashioned shower not good at all,tv very poor,very dated,same for wifi,very poor,and reception for phones very poor indeed also kettle facilities,very dated and poor

Staff were slow to react to needs (arrived 13.20 p.m) room not ready! no-one behind bar at times seemed to wait ages for a drink bit frustrating after 5 hour drive!

The staff were excellent and general facilities were good. Although very dated and the rooms were old we had a great and relaxing time in a good fashioned way!

The hotel is dated but in good order. Full of older people and old fashioned.

some parts were abit rundown. For example the warbrobe door didnt open properly, and the pool changing rooms were not clean or modern. sauna also wasnt working.

Having lived in Devon all our lives it was a hotel we had passed many times in the past, wondering what it would be like to stay there. We were not disappointed. Yes it would have been nicer to have had a slightly newer more modern bigger room, but what we had proved to be adequate for the one night we stayed. The bed was comfortable. Amenities were on hand if we had wanted to use them, but on this occasion we chose not to. We may well do so when we go to stay there again at some point in the future, whenever that may be. We thoroughly enjoyed out 4 course dinner which we felt gave ample food to meet our appetites. Friendly staff.

The TV in our room could do with upgrading to a more modern Freeview tele with access to Teletext. I don't think that is too much to ask in this day and age.

Certainly not the worst place i've stayed in but the room was a bit dated. 80S decor, very small tv. One or two other aspects of hotel a bit dated. Downstairs bar hadn't been dusted underneath. Their website does not appear to show its location/directions. Torquay is alright but i'm not certain of returning

Room was large and comfortable food was excellent

staff friendly and courteous, lovely grounds and walks close by. nothing too much trouble, lots of choice for breakfast. A peaceful place to stay. Will stay again.

Great hotel louge areas were comfortable,staff friendly and welltrained,dining room had lots of charm.the gounds and garden were amazing,had a game of golf on the 9 hole coruse ,small but we had a good laugh.we plan to go back to the palace no are next visit to torquay

we stayed in room 206 which looked over the gardens ,the decore was dated and the bathroom needed gutting but both were clean and the tv worked

Facilities were fantastic, building and grounds outstanding. Breakfast was very good and room service was excellent.

Although I appreciate the age of the building - the rooms needed some updating, in-room entertainment was very poor with a very small tv which was about 15 years old!. I was told these were being replaced over the coming months. Nice to be dressed up for dinner but sometimes just not wanted with a family after a busy day.

The booking had gone astray but the staff were very good and gave me a lovely room.

Hotel has a good location, nice grounds and facilities, food was of quite a good standard and the staff were most efficient and polite.

The bedroom was tired and the bed was probably the worst that we have ever had the dis-pleasure to sleep on, it deserves to be taken to the tip! For the money, this hotel is not good value.

Our stay here over the Easter weekend was very good food friendly staff. A pleasant relaxing few days, will stay at the palace hotel next time we go to Torquay

only thing we found a bit disappointing was the room was out dated could do with a make over but it was very comfortable and a nice view over the gardens.

Spacious lounges and gardens. Lovely dining room and breakfast.

As our booking was for a ''standard room''. We got what was written on the tin! The bathroom was tired [very]. But we got used to the view of the back of the hotel, lucky we were out and about a lot. I did ask to upgrade and pay more but was told they were full. A shame.
