only stayed for one night, but staff friendly and very helpful. Food was cooked well with nice selection of traditional English dishes. Wide choice for breakfast. Lovely grounds to walk around,or sit on terrace and have a drink.
our room was at front of building so not much of a view. parking may be difficult in peak season. not within easy walking distance of town.
Great choice on the menu's, not being rushed over meals and pleasant customer service.
Not enough evening entertainment.
What a surprise - such a good offer and yet still a lovely room. The hotel is just fabulous - old world grandeur that isn't faded but is still alive and well. Beautiful restaurant and one of the best breakfasts we have had.
the food was first class the staff very accomadating facilities ( golf ) very good would come back
rooms clean & tidy but a little dated
Good entertainment and although a little expensive, food was a good standard, with fast service in the restaurant. Lovely garden and good facilities.
Bedrooms and bathrooms rather shabby. No maintenance service available to deal with problems over the weekend. Noisy doors in neighbouring rooms disturbed our sleep both nights, but nobody able to deal with this.
Service excellent, staff friendly and very helpful. A spacious, pleasant building. Very good breakfast. Excellent value for money. Pleasant terrace and grounds.
Hotel somewhat 'tired'. Many areas desperately needed redecoration and even repair. Worn furniture in lounges needed replacing. None existant connectivity to the Internet.
Our dinner, the breakfast and the standard of service was excellent. Overall the package was value for money.
The bed in our room was very old and very uncomfortable. If you want a good nights sleep don't stay in this room.
Lovely breakfast in an impressive dining room, stunning grounds, which lead down to a pretty public cove. We didn't use indoor or outdoor pools on this occasion, but hope to on our next visit.
Our room needed an update, bed not very comfortable, old blankets and sheets didn't help.
Breakfast is to die fgr !!
Old fashioned touches!
I loved the size of the hotel, the location and scenery. It was tasteful and luxurious. I received outstanding value for my money. I will return.

evening meal was not the best, reminded me of school dinners. breakfast was good.
The lovely grounds,friendly staff,good food.
Lumpy mattress, cracked bath, old fashioned bedding who has blankets these days, nice comfy pillows please.
great sevice and an ideal golf course for morning ebntertainment before drive home
Ample sized breakfast room.
Just about everything. £170 per night? I've stayed in better for £50. The hotel is tired, drab and doesn't feel clean and well run. Avoid unless the alternative is sleeping in your car.
Excellent meals, good choice of breakfast & evening food. Excellent restaurant service. Nice friendly atmosphere. Cute resident Cat!
staff were friendly and helpful facilities were good and the food was exceptional.
we were on the third floor bedrrom walls were so thin we could hear conversations in the rooms either side of us. Unfortunately we had particularly noisy neighbours for two nights they had the tv on really loud until the early hours. when we booked it stated that we would pay when checking out but we were asked to pay upon arrival we had no objection to paying upon arrival just that your info states that you require payment upon departure.
The hotel was perfect, food very good and brill!!
The beds where not up to standard.
The gardens are beautiful and from them you can reach Ansteys Cove. Downstairs there is lots of space to sit in very opulent rooms - to read a book, have a drink, afternoon tea, etc Lovely terrace overlooking the gardens - very relaxing.
Our rooms were in need of updating. They had ceiling tiles that looked like oatcakes! The shower barely worked.
Location, grounds and facilities Friendly and helpful staff Excellent restaurant
Rooms very dated
Bed really comfortable and staff really friendly and very helpful
Decor in room a bit dated
