FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

We only stayed one full day, and I will say there is a lot to see and do so a couple days is reccomended. The beach was nice, with some great restaurants and options for bars in town. It is an old town, and there are some areas that could use restoration, but it has a certain charm. Everywhere we went the people were freindly.

I love Bournemouth, it has everything, from a beautiful , sunny beach, to a walk through the urban and tropical gardens to the shopping centre. There are a wide range of high street stores and some individual shops to be found in the shopping area. There’s an extensive choice when it comes to restaurants. There is crazy golf in the park for young and old alike. In short, Bournemouth has it all, whether young or old, Bournemouth is the place to be.

Constantly harassed by homeless and intoxicated people asking for money and following you when you tell them no. Did not feel safe at night when out and about. Prices in bars were not far off that in London . So disappointed as everything was unjustly expensive and is the reason my partner and I definitely wont be returning to Bournemouth....

This is a very nice boutique hotel with great views, within walking distance to the city center. The staff is wonderful and they resolved our little crisis before departure, and even gave us a ride to the train station to make sure we do not miss our train that was connected to an international flight. Wonderful people in a gorgeous town. Ventana restaurant has great food and a nice atmosphere. Bournemouth is a pleasant, lively English riviera with cafes, parks and live music, and we had a great stay at Cumberland.

The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The location was perfect. It was a small walk to the pier and the beautiful beach. Restaurants were also a walk, but we used taxis. The pool was AMAZING! It was heated and clean. It was open until 8pm. We had lunch on the pool veranda and it was a bit pricey but very nice. The Bournemouth air show was on so we watched that from our sunbeds! The hotel had a nice warm friendly feeling. We really enjoyed our stay!

The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on , and I am fussy about my beds! The air con was lovely and desperately needed for those stuffy nights. This hotel is perfectly located right in the city centre . There’s a beautiful park just below the hotel where you can walk all the way to Bournemouth Pier. The beach is 10 minutes walk and all the restaurants and bars are 3 minutes walk from the hotel. We are definitely looking to book again in August.

My mum and I walked across Bournemouth town because we had parked in Madeira road car park as it was cheaper then the £14 for the hotel parking and we were tired having got a bit lost in the town. The hotel staff immediately offered us a better sea room twin room at no extra cost and a lovely hot chocolate. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and clean and well decorated. Bathroom was superb. A lovely place. We will come again.
