We had a lovely stay at the Peacock Inn. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The pub was hosting an event in the evening so let us know when we were checking in so we could book a table for dinner a bit earlier. Plenty of room in the bedrooms and comfortable
Excellent breakfast and comfortable bed.
I could not find bath room door key.
Very friendly owner and the place was extremely clean - breakfast was generous! Lovely old world feeling about the place with real inglenook fireplaces.
we couldn't get a phone signal but that wasn't the fault of the Inn - was a problem in that area!
We enjoyed an excellent stay at the Peacock Inn. It's a country pub with beams and a roaring log fire - the place has a charming atmosphere and we were given a warm welcome. We ate a delicious meal there while the friendly staff organised taxis to take us out that evening. They couldn't have been more helpful.
Loved the location, friendliness of locals & staff, roaring fires, delicious food for dinner and breakfast.
The wet weather we had!
Very friendly staff, the food was delicious, also the room was clean & comfortable.
No Ensuite, I prefer to have an ensuite as both myself & partner usually visit the toilet during the night.
The Peacock Inn is located in the picturesque countryside of South Suffolk. All around the area, pretty villages with pastel coloured houses are a delight to see as one meanders across the countryside. All the staff were keen to ensure that our stay was as enjoyable as possible, and the food was tremendous, both in variety and quality.
Friendly staff, good food, good atmosphere, great breakfast, old world charm, charming rooms
Toilet/bathroom not en suite, but we still had our own private 'off suite' bathroom next door to our room
The village, the pub and the staff - very helpful and friendly
The Peacock is situated in a delightful village. Our room was beautiful with beams and an inglenook fireplace. Good facilities, very clean and welcoming staff. Delicious, generous breakfast too.
Only slight downside was being on the road but this didn't disturb our sleep.
Beautiful location, relaxed atmosphere, lovely food, friendly staff, fine bedrooms.
In bath shower wasn't great, too cramped. Bathroom was nice though.
Room good quality
No meal in evening. When booked through Booking.com no information restaurant closed Sunday evening. Private bathroom stated but this was not en suite! No taxis available to travel to nearest restaurant. Big let down for the quiet stay we expected, as we had to drive to Lavenham.
Pleasant surroundings and selection of ale's available.
The bathroom for the room we stayed in could only be accessed via the corridors. At breakfast on our first morning the milk jug contained milk that had gone off. Although this was quickly put right. Breakfast though was nice. Friday night was very noisy - not the place to stay for an early night!
people and food
no En suite website didn't make this clear
We arrived later than planned, but were welcomed warmly. We knew we were too late for a meal, but when we asked where we could find somewhere to eat, the owner kindly offered to make us some sandwiches, which were gorgeous. Breakfast was excellent, as was the lunch we returned for later in the morning. All round, excellent value for money.
A shower would have been preferable to a bath but we understand the difficulties of incorporating it in a building originating in 1380.
Helpful and welcoming staff and excellent food - especially the evening meal. A nice quiet location in a sleepy village and perfect for a weekend break and for exploring the Suffolk area.
No real dislikes - except an annual cycle event which occurred during the Sat Night/Sun Morning and The Peacock seemed to be a stopping point for some cyclists even in the early hours and they talk whatever the time ! Unfortunately we happened to be there that very weekend but this is no reflection on the venue itself.
The Peacock was delightful. Our room was spotlesssly clean and absolutely lovely. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The breakfast was fantastic which we were allowed to eat sitting in the garden in the morning sunshine. A really beautiful old english pub set in a gorgeous village. A Suffolk gem!
The staff went out of their way to assist us; the hotel is very quaint and rustic; our room and private bathroom were very clean and well provisioned; the included breakfast was very generous
Our private bathroom did not have a shower, only a bathtub
really helpful staff
Very nice location, with interesting rooms. The food and service was excellent at fair price.
The pub was not open Sunday evening
The quaint English Inn with beams, a good bar and excellent cuisine. Staff were extremely welcoming and the whole establishment had a feeling of quality in an old shell.
Very friendly owners. Great breakfast. The history of The Peacock is really interesting and a pamphlet should be produced about it. The rural location is absolutely lovely.
I asked for a room with beams and altho there was one vacant we didn't get it. Not being able to check in until after six made a long day of the journey from Cardiff. These are only slight criticisms: we had a very relaxing time and certainly recommend it.
The pub is good, the rooms are relatively comfortable and clean.
- 'private' bathroom is misleading. The room is not ensuite. There was a private bathroom outside the room but it was posted on the bathroom wall that other people could use it. - staff was very helpful but the manager was not welcoming at all. We tried to book a table for dinner, she said there was not any available table for us. We came back a couple of hours later and there were plenty of tables available, one of them was not even used. - at 8h30 in the morning there was no one available to serve us breakfast. The table was set but there were not toasts or milk, and absolutely no one around. We could not have breakfast (which was included in the price). - We requested a receipt and that was not provided. - Too expensive for the experience.
Excellent friendly welcome. good food, very clean. Nice quiet location.
Could not get answer on phone when wanting to check something before arrival. Fire door closes with a loud bang
