The outside buildings were very smart and appealing, with brilliant floral displays. Most staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was comfortable and had tea/coffee making facilities, fresh fluffy white towels. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast was available if required as an extra.
The parking was very limited to say the least, had to park and carry baggage from another area. The sink in the bathroom was cracked. No toiletries are provided. on closer inspection the walls in the bathroom were quite marked. Unfortunately the market set up at 05.00 on Monday morning just outside.
Some of the staff could be a little bit more accommodating.
I travelled with my wife to visit Chatsworth House and wanted somewhere close by that we had read good things about and Bakewell and the Peacock was that place. The Peacock was absolutely lovely, great setting, very comfortable surroundings and fantastic food. would advise people not to have a starter as the portions are absolutely huge. Would recommend anyone visiting this neck of the woods to stay here.
Location and Food in restaurant was excellent
There was no car park due to the fact that tables and chairs were using the space. Car parks were all full and we had to leave our car on side of road - not very pleased with that.
Central location, near a coop.. and clean.
Poor value for money, room small, cracked sink in bathroom,TV temperamental ,breakfast not included in with the price of the room.wouldnt recommend
located in the heart of the town, near supermarket, good restaurant/bar downstairs,
The food is immense, definitely recommend eating at the Peacock, not the cheapest pub food but definitely worth paying extra for Friendly & helpful staff The location is perfect - right in the middle of the town, a great little country pub
The accommodation itself was very overpriced for what it was, a basic double room and the shower head wouldn't stay in place so it was difficult to shower, breakfast wasn't included in the price either (248 for 2 nights). I've stayed in similar accommodation but for the same price received breakfast, had a four poster bed and a whirlpool bath
The waitress at breakfast was very good
The woman that greeted us at the bar when we arrived was very surly not very friendly, no good evening no how was your stay nothing, our room over looked the garden that was noisy till late if you want an early night go some where else ,would not recommend this place
Needed to go in a hurry, but at £99 B&B per night, I can go on a cruise FULL BOARD for that and be in a different country every day, AND have a better room. We shall not return
No guest parking due to parking area being filled with outside tables and chairs. A 5 per cent fee on credit card payments.
Being clean smart most staff were very good room good
The pub and food was great; reflecting the ambiance of an old Inn. We really enjoyed the front. Super. The rooms in the back though (we stayed in the annex) did not reflect that. And were a bit smelly.
Apart from the chef, the staff all looked a bit uninterested.
very good location in the town. The bed was comfortable and the room is clean. good choice if you would like to spend a night in Bakewell.
Nice location in a nice village.
It was an haphazard disorganised room & dirty.
Food was good. Younger girls helping in the bar area were smiley and helpful Selection of beers was good Liked settee in bedroom
Older staff who should be more experienced were unsmiling and not welcoming at all. (this alone would stop us returning) Rooms were just about clean. Our room was left unlocked after cleaner had been in. Our bed was hardly made to any acceptable standard. Bedside table only on one side of bed
price paid when booking did not include breakfast extra twenty pounds
Breakfast not included through booking.com
The best food I've ever ate in a pub.
Nice location, friendly staff and nice popular pub with good food.
Paid 129 pounds for one night which I believe was way overpriced for what you got, I've stayed in 4* London hotels for less. Small plain room, small double bed and small shower. Had a problem with the toilet which was not filling after flushing and although repairs were attempted they were not successful and I had to fill the cistern using the waste paper bin filled with water throughout the day and night. I had to ask for a partial refund, which I believe should have been offered without asking, and then only received 20 pounds for my inconvenience (forgive the pun). We stayed Saturday night and went out into Bakewell town for a meal, drink and entertainment so was disappointed to find that breakfast was only served between 08.30 and 09.00, as we didn't fancy getting up at the crack of dawn we didn't make it in time.
Friendly staff, large room, comfortable bed, nice pub/restaurant and nice breakfast
Quite expensive to stay one night and had to pay extra for breakfast - should have visited local cafe!
Excellent food and friendly staff.
Room above ours was noisy and also wondered if there are mice or rats in the void above our room as could hear them scurrying about when it was quiet, they weren't a problem though!
Nice room excellent food
Range of local ales. Access to Bakewell centre.
No late licence.
The location. Great for getting around Bakewell.
The fact that breakfast was not included in the quite high price we paid.
