The warm and friendly greeting from the staff sets the scene for a very pleasant overnight stay. The pub decor follows a modern trend for simplicity and neutral tones whilst the bedrooms are a bit more traditional (brown!). Beds were comfy and the ensuite perfectly adequate although if you want a power-shower you'll be disappointed. Breakfast (and lunch) were great and good value. I would recommend The Pelican for a short stay.
Location was great, even though next to main road was quiet. Gardens at rear of hotel lovely. Food was good with plenty of choice on the menu.
The water control in the shower.
Quaint pub, with good food. Friendly staff.
Right next to A4, very noisy. Also shower didn't work very well, couldn't get right water temperature. Wifi only available in bar area
Everything at The Pelican is first class.
Feel of the place Room itself was spacious fresh milk supplied
A bit noisy with traffic
Food was good. Room was comfortable. Staff were helpful and polite.
The breakfasts are excellent and the rooms very clean and pleasant. Value for money it is 10 out of 10. I visit Hungerford half a dozen times a year and have stayed at other more expensive places but keep coming back to the Pelican because it takes a lot of beating.
I do like a power shower so I do miss that and the water for me could be hotter but other than that and maybe the road noise there is nothing else to mention
Gluten free biscuits provided in room - nice touch
room was a bit cold
Everything.Nice and quiet,friendly staff,very clean
Nothing ti dislike
A very good hotel and restaurant
The staff were very helpful and made you feel at home
room 6 a very bad draught from the door leading to the flat roof, the shower rail needs a screw replacing the same for the tool rail
Pleasant surroundings. Nice old building. Friendly staff.
Bathroom in dark attic with little headroom. Shower didn't produce enough hot water.
We stayed one night and The Pelicn fully met our expectstions. The staff were welcoming and efficient. The room was well appointed(twin) large clean and comfortable.. The restaurent meal was very good and the breakfast was excellent I thoroughly recommend The Pelican and would stay there again.
Location Comfortable bed. Big room Warm enough Good breakfast Wifi in public rooms only
room not cleaned on one day and when I pointed this out no apology. Had to use it uncleaned as no offer to clean it. Had to ask for milk each day for tea and a hair dryer. shower was either very hot or very cold.
Decor was in very good order. Breakfast was classic and well cooked.
Nice room. Friendly staff. Good food.
No phone signal. Very limited wifi in the bar. Rooms could do with double or secondary glazing as right next to main A4.
The staff were friendlyish
Stayed for two nights, the first was ok, the second night we were woken at 3.45 am, by a loud banging sound coming from the bathroom, when we checked we werent sure wether it was coming from the air con or the pipes, as the bath was vibrating we thought it might be the pipes if we ran the sink taps it stopped for a while when we turned off the taps it started again, it did eventually stop but by then we were awake, tried to complain to a young girl as ther wasnt anyone else as we checked out, but she wasnt interested, I phoned on Monday to complain to management but they werent there I asked her to ring me back and I am still waiting would not recomend this hotel at all!
Comfortable, attentive staff. Good breakfast and swift to respond to requests.Found the information leaflet very interesting and helpful
We meant to say before we left that the water was slow to drain away in our shower. Room 7. How can you know if we don't tell you?
Staff Room bar restaurant
non existent phone reception unusable wifi noisy water tank in room shower
Friendly staff and comfortable room
No shower gel, only soap. Could have done with more tea bags.
Excellent food a pleasant place to stay
Friendly staff, spacious room, very good breakfasts, charming building
This is minor, but the room tea tray was not renewed on the second day.
The service is exceptional, my son wanted to play board games and asked the owner if she had any. Unfortunately she didn't but within 10 minutes the lady from across the road had brought some games over. The room was superb as was the food at dinner and breakfast. They also provided the cooked breakfast 30 mins early as we were flying out from Heathrow at lunchtime. Highly recommend this hotel as it is also only 1 hour from Heathrow.
There is nothing to dislike.
Warm reception, great room with plenty of space. Good meal in the restaurant, sensible price. Staff served early breakfast when we had to leave before scheduled service time.
Bit odd being locked in at night.
