The Pelican Inn  

The Pelican Inn was clean and the room spacious. Perfect for our one night stay in the area. Staff were all very helpful. Bar was realaxed.

There was a constant humming noise all night and we did not get a good night's sleep.

*Carpet in the room was in desperate need of cleaning. *Requirements from the company providing access to the internet were extremely intrusive, & cumbersome, and the service was unreliable too! I would not stay again unless this were changed.

Gardens were nice. Comfortable beds.Large rooms and bathroom.

Price of accommodation. Booked a family room online for 2 children and 2 adults, but were told on arrival that the price was only for 2 adults and one child and we had to pay an extra £10.

Room very clean and comfortable, nicely decorated. Breakfast very relaxing, good cooked breakfast, with cappucino coffee available rather than the usual filter type. Good restaurant in downstairs offers a varied menu, with pianist for sunday lunch.

Fresh fruit options at breakfast eg. Prunes would be a nice addition to go with the yoghurts. Road noise could be a problem if you are a light sleeper.

A lovely charming location (we loved the ducks!), friendly staff and a real family feel, excellent cooked breakfast, stylish contemporary design within a lovely traditional building.

The bedroom carpets were really stained and filthy - although we understand that Michelle and Paul (the lovely owners) are in the process of refurbishing - all other aspects of the room, furniture and fabrics were pristine and very lovely.

Quality of the food & their ability to cater for gueste with special needs such as "Gluten intollerance" etc.

The hotel was very charming to look at. The staff very friendly and the food was excellent

The bed room was charming but as you walked in the door the first thing you saw was a very dirty carpet. unacceptable these days with the cleaning products around. The bottom half of the full length mirror was covered in fingerprints. not a nice thing to look at. To be charged extra for two portions of vegetables that we assumed were part of the meal and therfore given no choices was extortionate.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Also very nice atmosphere.

The TV only had 3 channels but having wifi more than made up for it.

We were booked into the Pelican Restaurant for a surprise birthday meal for our friend who lives in Hungerford so it was the perfect location for us. It is in a really nice countryside setting with a little pond out the back. The place is nicely done out although the furniture in some of the rooms are starting to look a little dated.

I think our most unfortunate memory of the hotel was a general sense of being a bit of an inconvenience to the owner. The welcome wasn't the warmest we'd ever received, especially considering the amount of revenue our party was going to be responsible for over the 2 days. Although not quite bordering on rude, The welcome consisted of a list of things we couldn't do, that we had half an hour for breakfast the following morning if we really wanted it and gave the impression that he'd have much rather us not really been there. Which is a shame as it was actually a nice little place to stay.
