Just off the high street. Good shower room. Some quality appliances in the room (eg: kettle).

Poor breakfast including 20 minutes to be given my toast - 2 skinny, brittle crusts! Extremely overpriced. Advertised as listed building but it was modern. Room small and quite basic with view over carpark. Custard creams + basic tea - would have expected far higher quality for price.

The hotel was well placed for visiting family, set back from the road, the room was quiet. The Hungarian breakfast chef was very helpful, whether breakfast service, water for the car or water for the journey.

Staff weren't sure about time of breakfast. Room key cards failed to work repeatedly, necessitating numerous trips via a boiling hot staircase to reception. Reported blocked sink on three occasions, only to return to room and find still blocked. Pillows were like sleeping on bagged up shredded wheat! Returned to room on first day to find room door open, with no member of staff in sight. Bathroom tastefully designed but way too small for comfortable use.

    Room was ok.

A hotel without a bar, restaurant or lounge to relax in. Certainly would not want to walk down the road to a sister hotel for a drink!

Located right in the heart of Berkhamsted and with free parking. Modern room in a historic setting. Helpful staff, despite a power cut when we arrived!

Chef did not turn up for breakfast and we needed to make an early start. However, we cannot fault the rest of the staff there who showed us where the "help-yourself" food was and even cooked an excellent hot breakfast for us.

    The hotel generally

    a) difficult to identify from the internet map, and b) Car park - from the outside -only showed the exit. We must have spent half an hour "getting in"

The location is ideal for us visiting friends who live nearby. It is charming. The breakfast in the morning is plentiful and freshly prepared.

The convenient location, very well positioned in easy, short walking distance to shops and cafes in Berkhamsted. The courtyard was very charming (not sure if this belonged to the Café Rouge or not). The room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning was much appreciated as it was a very day and night when we were there. The staff were all very polite and pleasant. The breakfast was good. The car park was secure.

It was difficult to find because the hotel and its car park is not visible from the main road and is behind a Café Rouge. There are two signs but they are both so discrete that we did not at first see them. We drove past it twice and eventually found the hotel by one of us getting out of the car. The photo on the website showed the view of the hotel from the car park at the back. Once we were inside everything was fine. One small issue was that the shower was just on an attachment from the bath taps and you couldn't stand under it.
